Law College Dehradun Organises a Seminar on Mental Health Issues and Challenges

Law College Dehradun, the faculty of Uttaranchal University organised a seminar on Mental Health: Issues and Challenges, under the aegis of the Student Counselling Cell on 11 October 2022. The keynote speaker for the event was Dr Shobhit Garg, HoD & Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Shri Guru Ram Rai Medical College. This event was graced by the presence of Dr Rajesh Bahuguna, Dean Law College & Pro Vice-Chancellor of Uttaranchal University, and Dr Poonam Rawat, HoD. The event commenced with the arrival of the guest at 10:30 A.M., lighting of the lamp and University Kulgeet.

At the outset, Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna introduced the keynote speaker followed by a technical session by the keynote speaker Dr Shobhit Garg. He made the session interactive by defining mental health and the symptom by which students can monitor themselves and make out whether they are suffering from good or poor mental health. Dr Garg explained effectively extreme high and low emotions, sleep issues, body distortion, hormonal problems, hopelessness and helplessness, depression, anxiety disorder, OCD (Obsessive, Compulsive Disorder) and other significant issues that were discussed in detail. In between the talk, Dr Garg took the queries of the students and explained to the students the possible sources of stress among the College students. Moving further, Dr. Garg told the students the Mantra of dealing with stress. He explained to the students to make meaningful connections, exercise daily, creates short-term goals, lives in the present condition, takes short breaks to keep their mind and body healthy, engages in self-compassion, challenges negative self-talk, improvement in management skills and if the problem persists, talk to a mental health professional. He also told students to stay away from smoking, drinking alcohol, and drugs which is creating more stress among students.

The event ended with a vote of thanks by Member Secretary, Dr Shikha Uniyal Gairola followed by the National Anthem.

Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences celebrated “World Mental Health Day”

Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Uttaranchal University (Pharmacology Club) organized a quiz competition on 10 October 2022 on “World Mental Health Day”.

The theme of the Quiz Competition was based on “Make Mental Health & Wellbeing For All A Global Priority”. The main objective of this event was to make students aware of Mental Health in society. A total of 50 students participated in the competition. The rules and regulations of the quiz were explained at the beginning. Event was organized under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Vikash Jakhmola. The event was coordinated by Mrs Nidhi Gairola, Mrs Srishti Morris and Mrs Shilpa Rana. It was a very informative and knowledge-enriching competition for the participants. All Students participated with full enthusiasm.

Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun organizes an Industrial visit

Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun organised an Industrial visit to Seron BioMedicine Ltd. and Biological E, Selaqui, Dehradun, Uttarakhand on 08 October 2022. A total of 94 students of B Pharm III year visited the company. The visit was organized by the Pharmaceutical Club of the Department.

The objective of the visit was to give students insight into how companies operate. Mr Amit Kotiyal, Head Production, interacted with the students and explained the working culture of the industry. During the visit, the students visited the production unit, QA, QC, packaging unit and warehouse department of the industry under the guidance of Mr Manoj Mamgain (HR), Mr Vipin Chauhan, Mr Jitendra Singh (Production) and Mr Harmeet Singh (Packaging). Students were explained about dispensing area, granulation process, compression process, and coating of tablets, and also provided knowledge about different types of packaging.

The team of students also visited Biological E, where Mr Rakesh Srivastava, Head GM, interacted with the students and gave a general overview of Pharmaceutical Industries and also about the company’s growth and status. They interacted with the pharmaceutical industry to understand different departments and processes of pharma industries with novel approaches.

The visit proved to be extremely beneficial for the students as it provided information about the whole manufacturing process of the liquid dosage form and very closely interacted with the experts and learned some technical handling of the formulation during manufacturing and packaging. The industrial visit was coordinated by Dr Ankit Sharma, Mr S P Bhatt, Ms Mahamedha Deorari and Ms Shivani Rawat.

One-week “Donation Drive” as a social activity under the social club “Umeed”

Uttaranchal School of Hotel & Hospitality Management, Uttaranchal University organized one-week “Donation Drive” as a social activity under the social club “Umeed”.The donation drive was conducted from 1/10/2022 to 7/10/2022 .The aim of the activity was to inculcate social awareness, moral, ethical and social values amongst students and teachers. The students and teachers donated clothes, shoes, blankets, food items and books. The collected items were donated to needy people. Ms.Sapna Bisht, Assistant Professor, USHHM and Student Coordinators Ashish kumar and Vijay Devrari, led the drive. 

The event was organized under the worthy guidance and leadership of Mr .Manish Badoni, Principal Uttaranchal School of Hotel & Hospitality Management, Uttaranchal University. During the drive, the faculty members and students donated hundreds of clothes, books, toys and food items 

These little actions can truly have the power to light up the lives of others and bring about a positive change in the lives of those in need.

Uttaranchal School of Hotel & Hospitality Management signs an MoU with

The Uttaranchal School of Hotel & Hospitality Management, Uttaranchal University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Antara, Dehradun on 07 October 2022. Ms Hardeep Jas Narnauliya, Head, Learning & Development from Antara and Mr S C Sharma, Registrar, Uttaranchal University signed the MoU. The MoU outlines several initiatives like scaffolding in Placements, Exchanges of technical experts, and Industrial training.

Mr Manish Badoni, Principal, USHHM, Mr Surendra Singh Bhakuni, Assistant Professor, USHHM and Ms Sapna Bisht Assistant Professor, USHHM were also present at the occasion of the signing of MoU.

Uttaranchal School of Hotel & Hospitality Management visits to Antara Senior Living, Dehradun

The Hospitality Club, Uttaranchal School of Hotel & Hospitality Management, Uttaranchal University organized an Industrial Visit to Antara Senior Living, Dehradun on 07 October 2022 for the first-year students of USHHM.

The objective of the visit was to provide insight into the hotel industry. It provided students with a practical real-world perspective on the different functions of a hotel, such as Front Office, Housekeeping, Food Production, Food and Beverage Service, Marketing, HR, etc.

The group of students and members of faculty were welcomed by Ms Hardeep Jas Narnauliya, Head, Learning & Development. She briefed everyone about the company, its vision, mission and its Products through an interactive session. Thereafter, students were divided into two groups and the groups were escorted by Ms Narnauliya and her assistant to different sections of the hotel premises & explained their working.

The students were elated by this exposure. The visit proved to be a great learning experience for students. Mr Surendra Singh Bhakuni, Assistant Professor was the coordinator of the visit, under the guidance of Mr Manish Badoni, Principal, USHHM.

Employment Linked Skill Development

The department of Mechanical engineering is steadfast in achieving the vision and mission of the school and in line to this and to Empower the Talent of Tomorrow a seminar was organised on the theme of Employment Linked Skill Development in association with Made Easy on 07 October 2022 for B Tech pre-final & final year students of Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering and Civil Engineering. The objective of the Seminar was to spread awareness among the engineering graduates on how to crack the Civil Services Exam, Engineering Services Exam, GATE, PSUs and other competitive exams and the career options available after B Tech

The inauguration of this seminar took place at Seminar Hall, Uttaranchal Institute of Technology with the lamp lighting by the dignitaries. Mr Jitendra Tiwari Educationalist and Senior Faculty at MADE EASY and Mr Sreekanth Srivastava, Marketing Executive, Made Easy, New Delhi was the keynote speakers of the program which was presided by Prof (Dr) S D Pandey, Dean UIT, HoDs of all the departments and faculty members were also present.

On the occasion Prof (Dr) S D Pandey, Dean, UIT, Uttaranchal University emphasized on the importance of preparation for Competitive Examinations like GATE, IELTS, CAT,GRE, GMAT, and other Govt. level examinations and correlated them with the recruitment in the various Maharatana, Navratana & Miniratna companies through GATE.

The Vice-Chancellor Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi encouraged the students by sending his best wishes to students and the entire Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Department for organising such an event.

Mr Sanjeev Kumar Joshi HOD, ME, addressed the gathering with his encouraging words for organizing such an event and addressed the gathering. The keynote speaker Mr Jitendra Tiwari, an educationalist by profession, his name is registered in the LIMCA Book of Records for memorizing the world’s toughest dictionary GRE Barrons-words with meanings, words with page numbers and words in a sequence from A to Z and Z to A. In the course of the lesson, he taught the students new methods for learning and demonstrated how to remember concepts by simply associating the words with visual perceptions and practically demonstrating with the students.

The workshop was successfully conducted by Mr. Saurabh Aggarwal, Assistant Professor-Mechanical Engineering and Mr Vivek John, Assistant Professor-Mechanical Engineering under the esteemed guidance of Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Joshi, Head Mechanical Engineering Department, Dr Minakshi Memoria, Head, Computer Science Engineering, Mr Devendra Singh, Head Electronic & Communication Engineering and Mr Awadhesh Chandramauli, Head Civil Engineering Department with great zeal.

The program concluded with the formal vote of thanks given by Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Joshi (HoD-ME).

International conference on Business Data Analytics on 7th and 8th October 2022

Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS) organized quiz competition on the “World Habitat Day” with the theme “INEQUALITIES”

Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Uttaranchal University, Dehradun celebrated World Habitat Day by organizing a quiz competition with the Theme: INEQUALITIES on 03 October 2022. World Habitat Day 2022 seeks to draw attention to the growing inequalities and vulnerabilities that have been exacerbated by the triple ‘C’ crises — COVID-19, climate and conflict. The inauguration of the event was graced by Dean, UIPS, Prof (Dr) Vikash Jakhmola, The event was organised by the Guard of Green Club of UIPS which was coordinated by Dr Tarun Parashar, Faculty Coordinator and Student coordinator Peeyush Yadav, Neha Singh, Jyoti Rautela, Ritesh Jha, Prince, Vikas Kumar and Vikrant Kumar.

Representation of twenty-one teams of three participants each. The quiz began with the introduction of the participants and the rules of the quiz. The first round was the knock-up round and finally, ten teams entered the final round. Students were allotted 30 seconds to answer each question in five rounds. Finally, Team 06 stood First and the participants were Anwit Das, Arjeeta Singh Rathore and Khushi Aggarwal from B Pharm II Year and Team 05, Kishan  Bhandari, Saheen Anjum and Sadiya Parveen from  B Pharm II Year were awarded as Runner Up of the Quiz Competition. Students participated with full enthusiasm. The Quiz was a great success and participants enjoyed it thoroughly.

Uttaranchal Institute of Management Celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri’s birth anniversary

Cultural Club, Uttaranchal Institute of Management celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri’s birth anniversary on 3 October 2022 in the Seminar Hall of UIM, Uttaranchal University. On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, students conducted events to highlight Gandhian principles of world peace, social justice and purity of mind and soul. Through the mesmerizing poems, patriotic songs, skits and speeches the students showed a glimpse of Gandhian Philosophy.

Students were also reminded of the contributions of Lal Bahadur Shastri and his role in making India self-reliant through the Green and White Revolutions and mobilizing the entire nation with the slogan Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan. The students participated enthusiastically wherein students paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Dr Suri, encouraged the students to follow the path of strength and non-violence as taught by Gandhiji. He further said that the principles of Swadeshi, Swachhta and Sarvodya have become more relevant in the present world. Finally, the speech ended with a patriotic feeling in the hearts of all students and faculty members. The event ended with the prayer, ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’.
