About UU

The University came into establishment in 2013, vide Uttaranchal University Act, 2012 (Uttarakhand Act. No. 11 of 2013) as a Private University and is located in Dehradun, the Capital city of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The Uttaranchal University has been recognized by the University Grants Commission, Government of India under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956 and other statutory bodies of the State and the nation. Its lush green campus is situated on NH-72, Dehradun- India.

We feel honored to be in possession of the National Prestigious Accreditation for contributing as an HEI:

The University has been accredited with the prestigious A+ Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC- An Autonomous Body of the University Grants Commission in India). Uttaranchal University has been the first private University in the State of Uttarakhand to receive “NAAC A+” Grade in the first cycle of Accreditation, which now firmly positions as among the top 5% HEI of the country.

The prestigious accreditation by NAAC to Uttaranchal University has been awarded for the way we support our students on Curricular Aspects, Teaching-learning processes, Research, innovations & Extension, Infrastructure and learning resources, Student Support and progression, Governance, leadership and Management and carrying forward the legacy of the institutional values and social responsibilities through a plethora of societal outreach activities and events in alignment being a philanthropist.

Academic Structure & Governance of the University:

The University is governed through central bodies, principally the Board of Governors, Board of Management, Planning Committee, Academic Council and Finance Committee. These bodies include representatives from across the University that reflects decentralization and participative management, being functionary at central level. These bodies have an overall responsibility for the administration of the University, planning its work and managing its resources effectively.

The University is a confederation of Schools, Faculties and Departments. The schools are governed by statutes, regulations passed by the University Grants Commission, Government of India and other mandatory approvals as required from other Government Authorities.

Students live, eat and socialise in the University’s 12 Schools, thus forming an administrative grouping of Faculties. There is a Student council in the university which includes representatives from respective schools on the board.

The schools covering different disciplines are Law, Technology, Management, Applied & Life Sciences, Liberal Arts, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Computing, Mass Communication & Journalism, Hotel & Hospitality Management, Nursing and Health Sciences.

The University provides all officials with a reasonable leadership and guidance, as well as authority to work under well-defined policies and frameworks. Uttaranchal University has a well-defined organizational structure to promote a transparent and efficient decision-making process. Through stakeholder interaction with multiple authorities, committees, and bodies, the organizational structure is capable of assuring educational & societal effectiveness. The school representatives are an inevitable part of the university’s management and holds an equity in the decision-making process in amalgamation with the central bodies of the university. Centers of studies are controlled by committees of management, bringing together representatives from several disciplines.
