WORKSHOP ON “ART OF MIXOLOGY AND FLAIR BARTENDING”

A workshop on “Art of Mixology and Flair Bartending” was held on 01 December 2022, at the Uttaranchal School of Hotel & Hospitality Management (USHHM), Uttaranchal University. The purpose of this workshop is to introduce hospitality students to the modern trends of the Alco-bev industry. This workshop provided the opportunity for every interested individual to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue higher education in their own field as per UNAI- 5.

Mr Manish Badoni, Principal, USHHM inaugurated the event. He addressed the audience and welcomed Mixologist and Assistant Professor Manish Sati. In his inaugural speech, Mr Badoni quoted “I really believe that everyone has a talent, ability, or skill that he can mine to support himself and to succeed in life”. Mr Manish Sati started the session with a presentation on –the basics of Mixology, parts of mocktail, cocktails and their types. At the end of the PPT session, Mr. Sati answered questions of students.

Later in the workshop, Mr Manish Sati demonstrated various cocktails and mocktails. He also showed students BAR equipment, Various Glasses, Ice Types, decoctions, and infused botanicals. The Session concluded by a Flair show. He exhibited 2 tin, 3 tin, 4 tin flair show.

Awareness program on World AIDS DAY

The Biogenerika club of the School of Applied & Life Sciences (SALS) organized an awareness program on World AIDS DAY, 1st December 2022. The event was organized and conducted under the guidance of Prof Ajay Singh, Dean SALS with the objective of creating awareness about causes, preventive measures and therapy related to HIV and AIDS. The event witnessed two technical talks, one by Dr Monika Singh in which she discussed how HIV virus invades human cells and propagates and how conditions like AIDS are developed. In another technical session, Dr Minakshi Rajput had an interactive session with participants pertaining to preventive measures, the importance of counseling and available therapeutic support for HIV-infected persons. Students also participated through e-poster/PowerPoint presentations. Aum Garg of B.Sc. (H) Biotechnology was awarded the best presentation award. Prof Ajay Singh in his address congratulated the organizing team for the initiative and encouraged the students to spread the message and awareness about HIV and AIDS in society specifically to eradicate the social stigma associated with HIV. Dr Nishesh Sharma expressed his gratitude to Prof Ajay Singh for his support and encouragement and to all involved in organizing the awareness program.

UIPS celebrated World AIDS Day

Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Uttaranchal University organized an Awareness program on World AIDS Day on 01 December 2022. The event was organised by the Pharmacology Club. Dr Ankit Sharma, Asst. Prof. UIPS, delivered a session on the causes of AIDS in the community and myths related to AIDS. Total 70 students participated in the awareness program. Dr. Ankit Sharma discussed the Epidemiology, Etiology and pathophysiology of AIDS. He further added various methods for prevention and recent trends associated for the treatments of AIDS.

Prof (Dr) Vikash Jakhmola, Dean UIPS welcomed all the participants and mentioned various risk factors, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment options. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Amit Semwal. He emphasized the need and significance of awareness of AIDS among the people. He motivated students to stay healthy and shared his views on AIDS awareness and its prevention.

ONE-DAY WORKSHOP ON “MEXICAN CUISINE”

A workshop on “Mexican Cuisine” was held on 30 November 2022, at the Uttaranchal School of Hotel & Hospitality Management (USHHM), Uttaranchal University. Mr Manish Badoni, USHHM’s Principal, inaugurated the event. He addressed the audience and welcomed Chef Setu Sharma.

Chef Setu Sharma gave a presentation on the background, the influences of many foreign nations on Mexican food, and the usage of various materials and tools in Mexican cuisine. Later in the workshop, the chef showed a number of well-known meals, including tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, churros, salsa, and a few dips.

The purpose of this workshop is to make the culinary-inclined students familiar with Mexican cuisine. This workshop promotes Quality Education (SDG Goal-4) in the field of food and beverage production in the hospitality sector.

International Webinar on “Entrepreneurship and Innovation-Upskilling to succeed in the corporate World”

Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, organized an International Webinar on Entrepreneurship and Innovation-Upskilling to succeed in Corporate World, on 29th November 2022. The webinar was addressed by well-renowned industry experts Mr. Anshuman Tiwari, Director – Quality and Continuous Improvement, DXC Technology and Mr. Jayant Sethi (Vice President – Service Excellence & Transformation Genpact Global).

Neha Grover, Assistant Professor, UIM, hosted the webinar for all management students and welcomed the dignitaries and members of faculty. Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Dean, UIM, Uttaranchal University highlighted Entrepreneurship & Innovation. Innovation in entrepreneurship can help a company stay on top of the latest trends, which can lead to a variety of opportunities. He addressed the necessity of upskilling since it concentrates on enhancing existing skill sets. Innovation improves a brand’s character, inventiveness, and design-thinking process. By mastering the techniques of creativity, a new firm can achieve the pinnacle of success.

Mr Anshuman Tiwari and Mr Jayant Sethi enlighten our students with their immense knowledge and experience. They discussed various key areas one should keep in mind before selecting a career. Mr Anshuman quoted a very nice thought “Following your passion is bad advice, Instead, work on finding your passion”. Mr Jayant shared a wonderful slide on the Corporate Career Pyramid addressing various insights into People management, Client management, Process Management, Numbers & Analytical ability, and Information technology. They also discussed Interview Success attributes like familiarity with the Brand, showcase executive presence, and how to align the Job with aspirations. The seminar concluded with a question-and-answer session. The seminar was very interactive & informative & was a great success and attended by more than 400 Students from Management Department, Uttaranchal University.  In the end, Dr. Tilottama Singh, HOD, UIM proposed a vote of thanks to all the dignitaries & students.

The 29 UK Bn National Cadet Corps (NCC), Unit of Uttaranchal University is celebrating the 74th anniversary of its Raising Day on 27 November 2022.

The 29 UK Bn National Cadet Corps (NCC), Unit of Uttaranchal University is celebrating the 74th anniversary of its Raising Day on 27 November 2022.

NCC Day is observed on the fourth Sunday of November. The NCC was raised on 15th July 1948 in New Delhi, the fourth Sunday of November 1948. For this reason, the NCC raising Day is observed every year on the fourth Sunday of November Month.

This Year University is celebrating NCC Day by conducting an awareness campaign for waste management in nearby areas. The objective of this event is to uplift the nation’s unity and spread awareness about the Waste management

In his address Lt. Nitin Duklan, ANO Uttaranchal University outlined the importance of Waste management and explained the Concept of the 3 Rs of waste management to the NCC cadets and informed them that “In the present context, properly following waste management guidelines is an indispensable duty of every individual of Nation”.

Those present on the occasion were PI Staff Mr Sarweshwar Prasad, PTI Mr Jay Rana, and 48 NCC Cadets.

Law College Dehradun Organizes National Elocution Competition 3.0

Law College Dehradun, Faculty of Uttaranchal University, organised the third online “National Elocution Competition 3.0 on the topic “Can Artificial Intelligence be used to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals” on 27 November 2022, under the aegis of Vasundhara– the Green Society. The aim was to bring together brilliant minds from all across the nation on a single platform, allowing them to speak on this relevant issue and encourage the participation of 30 students from various eminent universities across the nation.

The event started in the presence of Prof (Dr) Lakshmi Priya Vinjamuri, Chairperson, Vasundhara– the Green Society along with the respected judge Dr Hemangini Sharma, an eminent and successful advocate. She has completed her UG degree from National Law University, Jodhpur and LLM from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and has pursued her Ph D from National Law University, Nagpur. She has been a part of various faculties at various prestigious institutions throughout the nation such as Amity Noida, NLU Assam, Amity Gwalior, ADAMAS, and Kolkata, with these amazing qualifications and experience she has authored several papers that have been presented internationally and have voiced several National Seminars as a guest speaker.

Embracing the traditions that mark the start of an event, opening remarks were delivered by event moderators Ms Krinjal Bhartiya and Mr Harsh Tyagi, Executive member of VTGS, who welcomed the luminaries and attendees present in the virtual meet. After a brief introduction about the event, Mr Harsh Tyagi elucidated to the participants the screening round rules before the session’s commencement. The competition commenced with the beautiful quote, “The coming era of Artificial Intelligence will not be the era of war, but be an era of deep compassion, non-violence, and love.” They talked about how technology is related to biodiversity and how it helps to enhance it, with a preference for urban mobility and connecting it to the topic with the future in artificial intelligence and how it contributes towards sustainable development. Moving forward the next participant started with the power lines, “Success in creating AI would be the biggest event in human history. Unfortunately, it might also be the last, unless we learn how to avoid the risks.” – Stephen Hawking, Theoretical Physicist. He further informed the relationship between Google and mobile which is the need of today’s generation and notified the audience about 17 interlinked goals shared for peace and prosperity and 79 % of goals were already achieved with the main help of AI and just like these from the participants. It was a very great learning experience for the students and participants who actively participated and voiced their opinions on the concerned matter and about the relation of the current generation not only with mobiles, and electronic devices but also to health sectors, transportation, and many more. The session was winded up by Prof (Dr) Lakshmi Priya Vinjamuri, Chairperson, Vasundhara– the Green Society, and was brought to an end by Ms. Pragati Singh, Event Coordinator of the society who proposed the Vote of Thanks.

Law College Dehradun emerged victorious in LAMHE – Techno Cultural Fest at IMS UNISON University

“Patience, persistence, and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success”.

Law College Dehradun, Faculty of Uttaranchal University emerged victorious in LAMHE an Annual Inter-University Techno Cultural Fest 2022, organized by IMS Unison University, Dehradun on 25 and 26 November 2022. The team comprising of Rijul Goel, Tanvi Jindal, Sagar Tiwari, Silky Jain, Aryan, Aarti Sharma and Sidhant Pundir competed with 7 other teams from various universities. The students gave an incredible performance in Rang Manch – Nukkad Natak and the theme was Child Labour. The play showed the harsh reality of child labour which still prevails in many parts of the country along with emerging threats of sexual harassment in the workplace. The team did marvelously well and grabbed the second position.

Law College Dehradun organized – Preamble Reading Session 2022

Law College Dehradun, Faculty of Uttaranchal University organized a Preamble Reading Session on 25 November 2022, under the aegis of the Legal Aid Centre, to celebrate Constitution Day. The auspicious day was marked by the presence of the Director of the Legal Aid Centre, Pro Vice-Chancellor & Dean, Law College Dehradun Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Head of Department, Prof (Dr) Poonam Rawat and Chairperson of the Legal Aid Centre, Mr Abhiranjan Dixit. Prof Rajesh Bahuguna addressed the gathering and enlightened them about the significance of Constitution Day to future budding lawyers. The Preamble, which is the prayer to the holy book of the Constitution of India, was read aloud by the dean, with the students repeating after him. Being responsible law students, Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna urged the students to team up and prepare presentations on the Preamble, Fundamental Rights, and Fundamental Duties to sow enthusiasm among the students at other universities as well. The passion of the students was evident by the promise in their eyes, to uphold the virtues of the Constitution.

School of Liberal Arts celebrates International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

To commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, on 25th November 2022, the Women Cell, School of Liberal Arts organized a Group Discussion on the topic Violence Against Women – Who is the Culprit?

Students of various colleges of the university participated in the event. Naman Nagi, B Tech II year compered the event. A short talk was delivered by Reetika, BA (H) English. The event was judged by Dr Anubhuti Dhyani and Mr Ashutosh Sharma, SLA.

30 minutes of time was allotted to the participants for the discussion followed by one-minute concluding remarks by all the participants. The discussion took a hot turn as a student mentioned the plight of Sita and Draupadi. Prof Shravan Kumar, Dean SLA motivated the students with his words. He also gave some tips for effective discussion and public speaking. The winners of the event were:

  • First: Jay Raj, BA(H)-1st Semester
  • Second: Sanjay Singh Bisht (BTech)-2nd Semester
  • Third: Simran, BA(H)-3rd Semester

The event was duly coordinated by Dr Pinki Chugh, Member Secretary, Women Cell, SLA. A vote of Thanks was proposed by Jhanvi Pant, BA(H)English.
