All India University (AIU) Association had entrusted the responsibility of organizing North Zone Inter University Football Male Tournament for the session 2018-19 to Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Jalandhar. The Football Team of Uttaranchal University participated in the event and was placed in Pool-A of North Zone. The team of Uttaranchal University after getting bye in 1st round performed well in next three rounds of Pool- A but couldn’t qualify for the Finals of the Tournament.
After getting bye in 1st round match Uttaranchal University team won the 2nd round match defeating Central University, Bhatinda by a margin of 2-1. On 24th October, 2018 in the 10th minute of first half of the game Vivek Rana of Uttaranchal University hit the first goal of the match with a stunner and after that Uttaranchal University team doubled the lead by the goal of Sange Wangchu Serthipa.
After winning the 2nd Round, Uttaranchal University team won the 3rd round match by defeating Thapar University, Patiala team by a margin of 2-1 on 25th October, 2018 in SBBSU, Jalandhar Football Ground. Vivek Rana hit both the goals for Uttaranchal University in the 5th and 60th minute of the game.
On 26th October, 2018, in a breathtaking match, Uttaranchal University team lost the match against Guru Gobind Singh Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi in penalty shootout and was knocked out of the tournament. The final score of penalty shootout was 2-4.
After returning the University Team was appreciated by Hon’ble Chancellor Shri Jitender Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N. K. Joshi and Director – Student Affairs and IT Services Dr. Abhishek Joshi.
The team was guided and coordinated by Mr. Tarun Kumar, Sports In-charge, Uttaranchal University.
