Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with fervor and great enthusiasm by NSS Wing of Uttaranchal University on October 2, 2017. Students and teachers of Uttaranchal University gathered to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with patriotic zeal. To imbibe the true meaning of the day and follow glorious trails of the noble soul towards evolving a peaceful and prosperous world, a special interactive session was organized by the NSS. The students from all the colleges of Uttaranchal University paid a creative homage to the Father of the Nation by making thoughtful posters, eye catchy slogans, maintaining cleanliness, in and around their class rooms and other areas of the university premises and showcasing the importance of eating healthy diet ,saving water and protecting environment. Beautiful charkha replicas made by students was appreciated by one and all. The students paid special tribute to the Father of the Nation through their essays on ‘The Significance of Khadi in Life’.
In presence of teaching fraternity and the organizer of the event Dr. V. K. Srivastava, Hon’ble Chancellor of the University Sh. Jitender Joshi concluded the event by telling us the relevance of values and principles of Mahatma Gandhi, and how it had grown even more important in the contemporary era. He stated that it is important for all the students (young learners) to imbibe the spirit of Gandhi and re- discover their life and its significance for a humanitarian growth and development in the present social and global scenario.
