The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) Congress in Istanbul, Turkey designated 25th September as annual World Pharmacists Day (WPD) in 2009. Each year a new theme is developed to showcase the pharmacist in theirpositive role on health.The purpose of World Pharmacists Day is to encourage activities that promote and advocate for the role of the pharmacist in improving health in every corner of the World. Pharmacists are the reason why people get the best from their medicines, they are using their experience, knowledge, and expertise to make the (medical) world a better place for everybody. Moreover, they give access to medicines, advise people on how to properly take them and so much more. Theme for World Pharmacist Day this year is “Pharmacy: Always trusted for your health” At a time when trust barometers have found that distrust of societal leaders has increased and distrust of information sources is at a record high — fuelled by the COVID-19 pandemic and the infodemic around it — and when vaccines hesitancy remains a major hurdle, public trust in pharmacy is more important than ever.
