Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences celebrates International Ozone Day

Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Uttaranchal University organized a poster Competition on International Ozone Day today on 16th September, 2021. The event was conducted by the Students Club: Guard of Greens. Main aim of the competition was to rising the awareness about the role of the ozone layer and negative impact of excessive solar UV radiation on the living species, plants and on human life as well as to teach students to be proactive in solving local, regional and global environmental problems. Total 30 students participated in poster competition.

Dr. Vikash Jakhmola, Dean UIPS welcomed all the participants and encouraged the students to exhibit their knowledge, presentation skills and innovative ideas. Students of Pharmacy Department presented very creative posters depicting different causes of Ozone depletion, its effect on ecosystem and measures to control it. They also explained different processes that destroys ozone in the Earth’s atmosphere and presented their views to develop an understanding of the global trend towards ozone depletion, recovery and enlighten how citizens can help to reduce ozone depletion.

The events were organized by Dr Tarun Parashar along with the Guard of Greens student club Co-ordinators, Vanshika Khare and Rakshit Gupta. Judges for the competition were Prof. Bharti Ramola, Co-ordinator Eco-Club Professor, Mrs. Pallavi Ghildiyal and Mr. Ashish Dimri. The event ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Amit Semwal, HoD, UIPS, he applauded the creativity and presentation of the students for the activity and congratulated the winners.
