The GLOBE Club of Uttaranchal Institute of Management conducted a ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan’ Activity on 21st September, 2019, with a view to educate and make the society aware of the need for water conservation. This activity aimed at making water conservation a Jan Andolan through asset creation and extension communication involving preparation of posters by different groups of our students to promote the water conservation activities.
This activity was conducted in accordance with the guidelines of UGC for the promotion of water conservation by mass mobilization of the students in and around the university campus. As per their direction, a strong focus was placed on the accelerated implementation of the following five target intervention areas:
Water conservation and rain water harvesting.
Renovation of traditional and other water bodies/tanks.
Re-use, borewell, recharge structures.
Watershed development.
Intensive afforestation.
The activity was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri (Director, UIM) and Dr.Anshul Sharma (HOD, Management) and it was executed with the coordinated efforts of the entire team of GLOBE Club Members, namely, Mr. Rohit Dhiman, Mr. Mayank Pant, Ms.Sangeeta Sundriyal, Ms. Anu Suyal, Dr. Deepa Bisht, Dr. Monisha Awasthi and with support from Mr. Ravindra Singh Rawat (Head – Cultural and Academic Affairs).
A large number of UIM students actively participated in the event and prepared & demonstrated posters that emphasized upon the need of water conservation and implementation of the target intervention areas as listed above.
