Uttaranchal College of Applied & Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University organized an Industry-Academia Meet on 31st October, 2018. The meet was inaugurated by Shri. Jitender Joshi, Chancellor – Uttaranchal University, Prof. (Dr.) N. K. Joshi Vice Chancellor – Uttaranchal University, Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Principal – UCALS and Dr. S Farooq, President – Himalaya Drugs by lighting the auspicious lamp. Experts from various industries including Dr. Anil Singh (Associate Director, Vedlife Savers Ltd), Dr. Amit Kotiyal (DGM, Sharon Biomedicine), Dr. B S Tomar (GM, Trivani Sugarmill Ltd), Dr. Saurabh Srivastava (QA-Head, Vedlife Savers) along with Experts from Windlass Biotech, Rupture Biotech, etc. participated in this meet. All the invited guests were welcomed by presenting a bouquet by Hon’ble Chancellor, Vice Chancellor and Principal-UCALS.
Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh delivered the Welcome Address and introduced the objective behind the organization of this Industry Academia Meet. He emphasized on the requirement of mandatory stress on imparting sound knowledge of laboratory practices so as to pursue a career in renowned industries.
Dr. S Farooq (Chief Guest) in his invited talk emphasized on the requirement of innovation in the field of science and also shared his views on art of expression, living and earning. Dr. Amit Kotiyal shared his views on the interdependence of academics and industry. Dr. Anil Singh delivered his talk on GMP, GLP and other industrial parameters.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Nishesh Sharma, who also delivered the Vote of Thanks in which respected Chancellor Sir, Vice Chancellor Sir, all the invited guests, Deans and Directors of different colleges, Faculty Members and students were acknowledged for sparing their valuable time for the occasion. Also all the guests were presented with a memento as a token of appreciation for their prestigious presence.

Mr. Saurabh Pant were present on the occasion. Students of B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. (Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biotechnology, Food Technology, Physics and Mathematics) participated in the Industry-Academia Meet.
The event also witnessed the Prize Distribution Ceremony of different events organized by UCALS. An Essay Writing Competition was organized by Department of Biotechnology on 30th October, 2018 on the topic “Impact of Modern Industrialization on Science and Society”, Himanshu Plawat [B.Sc.(Hons.) Biotechnology, III Semester] won the First Prize, Shraddha Tiwari [B.Sc.(Hons.) Biotechnology, III Semester], Shreya and Khushboo of [B.Sc.(Hons.) Biotechnology, I Semester] were awarded the Second Prize. A Debate Competition on “#Me Too is being utilized or misused by women nowadays” was organized by the Women Cell of Uttaranchal College of Applied & Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University on 18th October, 2018. Sumit Bhatt [B.Sc.(Hons.) Chemistry] was declared as Winner and Varsha Rai of [B.Sc.(Hons.) Food Technology] was the Runner up of the event. Cultural Committee of Uttaranchal College of Applied & Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University, organized a Debate Competition on 18th October, 2018 on the topic, “Media Today- a boon or a curse” Ankit Joshi [B.Sc.(Hons.) Chemistry, I Year] was the Winner and Nishtha Chaudhary of [B.Sc.(Hons.) Chemistry] was the Runner up. Prize Distribution Ceremony was followed by the recital of the National Anthem.
Overall the Second Industrial Meet, organized by Uttaranchal College of Applied & Life Sciences proved to be an extremely successful venture which provided an opportunity to student to not only get an exposure to the Invited Talk and Lectures of distinguished guests but also avail the opportunity of having one-to-one interaction with industrial experts in discussion cum interactive session.
