Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Uttaranchal University organised a two-week (22 July-04 August 2022) Online Faculty Development Programme on “Artificial Intelligence and its Impact on Industry 4.0 And Healthcare System”.
The objective of the FDP was to introduce the participants to Artificial Intelligence and its impacts on the Industry and Healthcare system. This FDP allows robust collaborations between AI researchers and health practitioners to discuss socio-technological challenges and come up with state-of-the-art technology directions in the interdisciplinary field of engineering and medicine. This FDP intended to orient participants towards developing their own research plans, paying due attention to every stage of research. The FDP was attended by 141 faculty members and Researchers from pharmacy backgrounds of more than 40 different institutes and universities.
The FDP was inaugurated with the virtual curtain raising and traditional lamp lighting as a tribute to Goddess Saraswati, by our Hon’ble Chancellor, Shri Jitender Joshi, Vice President, Prof S S Sehgal, Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Dean, UIPS, Prof (Dr) Vikash Jakhmola and HoD, Dr Amit Semwal along with the UIPS faculty members. Prof (Dr) Vikash Jakhmola in his address note, welcomed all prestigious and renowned speakers of the FDP.
The Keynote Speaker Prof (Dr.) Kamla Pathak, Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Medical Sciences, Safai Uttar Pradesh laid emphasis on the importance, need, challenges and awareness involved in the use of “Artificial Intelligence” in day to day life along with its versatile utilization in the field of academics, industry, research and in medical sciences as well. In the afternoon session, Prof (Dr) Anita Gehlot, Head, Research & Innovation, Uttaranchal University emphasized on “Healthcare 4.O”
On the second day, Dr Prashant Gehtori, Faculty of Pharmacy, Graphic Era University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, discussed “Solving Centuries Old Drug Discovery Challenges with AI: Hope versus Hype”. The day three witnessed Prof (Dr) Vikas Anand Saharan, Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Technology, Sardar Bhagwan Singh University, Balawala, and Dehradun, Uttarakhand discussed the topic “Artificial Intelligence For Developing Pharmaceutical Formulations”. The following day’s session was delivered by Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. Production Manager Biological E ltd., Dehradun, Uttarakhand on “Is the Current Pharmacy Education System Sufficient to Make Students Succeed In 21st Century”. The proceeding day’s deliberations by Rajendra Awasthi, Associate Professor, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) about “Application and theoretical perspectives of artificial intelligence in healthcare: An integrated approach to public health and drug discovery” enlightened the audience. On the seventh day, Mr. Raja K. Padhy, Head Operation (Plant Head) Sidmak Laboratories Pvt. Ltd, Dehradun, Uttarakhand shared his quality of information and experiences on “cGMP’s Pharmaceutical Manufacturing” while on the eighth day Prof (Dr) Jagannath Sahoo, Director, Faculty of Pharmacy DIT University Dehradun, Uttarakhand shared his valuable and informative view on “Convergence of Blockchain & Artificial Intelligence In Health Care Is Transformed to Take Advantage of Its Capabilities”.
Prof (Dr) Rajesh Singh, Director Research and Innovation, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand discussed “PHARMATECH 4.0” on the tenth day, Prof (Dr) Sonal Sharma, Professor and Dean, Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand talked about “Practical approach to implement AI in Pharma 4.O”. Dr Rakesh K. Tekade, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, NIPER, Ahmedabad discussed on “Recent Inclinations in Nanomedicine and Nanotechnology Explorations” on the twelfth day. Dr Sanjay Sharma, Vice-President & Head of Technology Transfer, Formulation Lupin Pharma Limited presented his talk on “Application of PAT and New Technologies in Formulation Process Development” on the thirteenth day.
Two Week Faculty Development Programme was concluded by the Valedictory function. The program was initiated by Dr Amit Semwal, HoD, UIPS, who addressed the gathering by congratulating all the participants for attending the FDP. He also congratulated all the eminent speakers for all the valuable input given by them in making the FDP a great success in achieving its innate objective.
