International day of YOGA 21-June, 2019

The Fifth International Day of Yoga (IDY) was Celebrated at Uttaranchal University

Since its beginning in the year 2015, June 21st is celebrated as The International Day of Yoga all over the world. This idea was proposed by our Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi. The word “Yoga” is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘yuj’ meaning “to join”, “to yoke” or “to unite”. According to Yogic scriptures, the practice of Yoga leads to the union of an individual consciousness with the universal consciousness.

Uttaranchal University celebrated the 5th International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2019 with enthusiastic The session was attended more than 60 students, faculty and staff members.

The programme began at 9.30 am with the welcome address by the Hon’ble vice chancellor Prof. N.K. Joshi . After this The Yoga Instructor(Mr. Ashok Aggarawal and Mrs. Monika Aggarawal) started the session with a prayer and explained how yoga embodies unity of mind, body and soul. The participants thereafter performed various Yoga asans like Nokaasan, Danuraasan, Savhaasan etc. All yoga asans were introduced/ demonstrate by Mr. Shudansu before being performed. Finally, the session ended with meditation and prayer.

The participants benefited from the session and expressed their heartfelt thanks to Mr. and Mrs aggarawal for conducting the session on the occasion of International Yoga Day.

In this occasion Registrar of Uttaranchal university Mr. Ajai Singh, Programm coordinator Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma and all other faculty members and staff were present
