5th September 2020, was celebrated as “ Teachers day” with great enthusiasm in School of Applied and Life Sciences of Uttaranchal University,Dehradun. “True teachers are those who help us think for ourselves”, as said by Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan whose birth anniversary is celebrated as Teachers’ Day across the country on 5th September every year since 1962 .It was his belief that “ Teachers are best mind in the country” .
The Event was started with The lightning of the lamp done by Principal SALS, Prof. Dr. Ajay Singh, Prof. Dr. V.K.Srivastava, Prof. Dr. B.S.Rawat, Dr. Bharti Ramola, Dr. Poonam Negi, Dr. Nishesh Sharma and Dr. Shilpa Sharma. Students were present online through Zoom. On this Occasion special guest Dr. Y.S. Negi Director, IPT, IIT Roorkee , Dr. M.S.M. Rawat (Ex Vice Chancellor, HNB Garhwal University) & Prof.S.C.Joshi ( Ex-Vice Chancellor-UU) were invited to grace the occasion through video conferencing.
The pandemic indeed has changed the way of teaching and learning.
A teacher can greatly mould a student’s thinking and outlook towards life, even while social distancing. As the primary stakeholder in the teaching-learning process, students and teachers both have first-hand experience of it.
Principal of SALS. Prof. Dr. Ajay Singh gave a speech to welcome the eminent personalities, faculty members and all the students. Prof Ajay Singh expressed sense of honour & gratitude towards Professor & Former Vice Chancellor of Uttaranchal University , Prof. S.C.Joshi. Ex-Dean/VC of HNB Garhwal University ( prof.M.S.M.Rawat) and Prof.Y.S.Negi ( Director-IPT,IIT Roorkee).
It was indeed a great day when eminent personality Prof. Dr. S.C. Joshi joined the event and blessed all with words of motivation in his speech.
Prof. Y.S.Negi motivated all the students and researchers in current COVID-19 situation. He briefed about opportunities available in the field of Environmental Technology, Polymer Technology, Nano technology and other fields which will help in betterment of the society.
Dr. Singh expressed thanks to all and said that teachers were giving their best efforts in on line teaching in present COVID situation.
In the event many students of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Food Technology, Mathematics and Physics expressed their ideas and feelings towards faculty members on this occasion. Tuba of B.Sc H Chemistry 2 yr, Ritesh B.Sc Food 3 yr, Praggya Sharma B.Sc H Biotech 3 yr, Gaurav B.Sc H Chemistry 2 yr, Harshvardhan of B.Sc H Mathematics 2 yr., Chahat B.Sc Food Tech 2 yr and Monika Mishra B.Sc H Chemistry 2 yr helped in making this event a memorable one. Students also participated with poetry and gave speeches on the occasion of Teacher’s day and shared their unique experience– about what the shift to online mode of education means to them and how have they changed during the present scenario.
Event was anchored by Dr Bharti Ramola. All the Heads of the department Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Prof. (Dr.) V.K. Srivastava, Prof. (Dr.) B.S. Rawat, Dr. Nishesh Sharma, Dr. Poonam Negi, Dr. Shilpa Sharma, Dr. Bharti Ramola and other faculty member were also present to grace the occasion.
