School of Liberal Arts organizes ‘POESIA’ to celebrate “World Poetry Day”

“I have never started a poem whose end I knew. Writing a poem is discovering…” Robert Frost

William Wordsworth’s definition of poetry goes on as, “the spontaneous overflow of powerful emotions.” Indeed, poetry is an exquisite art of the synthesis of the emotions felt within a human heart and an alluring impression of the intricacies residing deep inside that outpour when words unite.

In order to celebrate “World Poetry Day” (21st March), Literary Club, under the aegis of School of Liberal Arts, organized an enriching event entitled “POESIA” on 19th March, 2021. Participations were invited from various branches of School of Liberal Arts. Students participated actively in the session. The audience and the teachers were given a warm welcome by the anchors. The event proceeded with the recitation of elegant and bewitching pieces of self-composed poems by the junior as well as the senior batch of SLA.
The event was well-conducted and the audience was kept intact by the beautiful weavings of words that the students spelled out. The faculty and the pupils relished the event with great interest and sat glued to the entire session. The constant claps of appreciation and the cheers of motivation boosted the morale of the speakers and kept them going swiftly all along the way.

Both the English and the Hindi Speakers poured their hearts out and carved out the numerous enumerations of a plethora of social, psychological and philosophical attributes of human life, some of them grown out of their own personal experiences in the poetic pieces that were recited in a rather captivating manner.

The poetic session was given a graceful and yet a sentimental conclusion by the recitation of a self-composed piece of poetry by Mr. Komil Kumar (Assistant Professor, Psychology), who with his intricate creation weaved together by emotions and concern. The poem was about the heinous act of female foeticide and how the foetus tends to respond to the unexpected truth of death before receiving a sight of the world outside. Everyone in the audience felt an overflow of sentiments and sat with eyes that were brimmed with tears.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Shriya Goyal (Dean, SLA), who applauded and praised the conduct of the fruitful and enchanting event that was appreciated by the entire SLA fraternity. In her address to the orators and the audience, she applauded the manner in which the students of Liberal Arts brought out an entirely new, appreciable and a much matured and philosophical version of themselves through the means of their writings. The poetic works were a treat to hear and gave an insight of the ideas dwelling in the trenches of the hearts and minds of the composers of the poetic musings. The results were further announced wherein Pawan Singh Rawat from BA, II Year grabbed the First Position and Karan Panchal from B.A. (Honours) Psychology, I Year won the Second Position. Everyone looked forward towards the organization of many such enthusiastic and enlightening events in the coming days.
