School of Liberal Arts celebrates National Energy Conservation Day

“Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed.” -Mahatma Gandhi

It has been rightly mused that “Energy Conserved is Life Preserved” The conservation of energy is one of the most discussed topics in this century. The rapidly depleting resources are an alarm for the whole human race to endeavour steps to preserve the precious elements of Earth and keep it equipped with resources for the future generations as well.

In order to mark the importance of one of the most crucial topics of the 21st century, i.e., Energy Conservation, the School of Liberal Arts hosted a virtual event to celebrate the “National Energy Conservation Day”. Art and Creativity amalgamated together and brought out an amazing event. The event was ‘Poster and Collage Making’ on the theme of Energy Conservation. The Literary Club of SLA collaborated with the Cultural Club of SLA and organized this event to make the 1st year students come up with their hidden talents.

The event commenced with a Welcome Speech by Arman Joshi [B.A.(Hons.) English] wherein he heartily welcomed the honourable guests and the students of the SLA. Prof. (Dr.) Shriya Goyal (Dean-SLA) , Dr. Reeta Rautela , Mr.Komil Kumar, Dr. Pinki Chugh, Dr. Ashima Saxena, Dr. Seema Gupta, Ms Anamika Thapa, Mr.Ved Prakash Bhatt and Ms. Smriti Uniyal witnessed the programme and appreciated the students. A video compiled by Vaibhav gave the programme a motivational start as it highlighted the necessity of energy conservation and enlisted steps to safeguard all the resources that contribute to the production of energy.

The event was hosted by Nandini [B.A. (Hons.) English], who gave a cheerful introduction of the participants. Every department participated enthusiastically and the students came up with applaudable art works. The intricacies and the message that was weaved in the canvases were inspirational and motivational. The participants were invited successively and they elucidated their views of the art work made by them. The faculty and the students were amazed to see such fascinating mix of colours combined with admirable artistic skills.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Khushbu [B.A.], who brought the programme to a graceful end. All the attendees that included the faculty and the students were thanked for their benign presence throughout the event and being an amazing audience. The teachers praised the amazing attempt initiated by the clubs of SLA to host a virtual event that was both enjoyable as well as informative.

The entire SLA fraternity looked forward to organize and relish many such events in the upcoming future as well to descend the distance amidst this global crisis.
