Recent Developments In Artificial Intelligence & Robotics

A 14-days Faculty Development Program on ‘Recent developments in Artificial Intelligence & Robotics’ was organized by Uttaranchal Institute of Management from 1st July to 14th July, 2018. 

It was inaugurated on 1 July by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K Joshi and attended by Director-UIM, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri and Head- Department of Computer Application Dr. Sonal Sharma along with faculty members of UIM and different Universities and Institutes. Dr. Ashutosh Bhatt, Assistant Professor Dept. of Computer Sc. & Engineering, Birla Institute of Applied Sciences was the Resource Person.

Mr. Abhishek Pathak was the Master of Ceremony. At the outset,Dr. Pradeep Suri felicitated Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi and Dr. Sonal Sharma felicitated Mr. Ashutosh Bhatt. Thereafter, the dignitaries were invited to light the auspicious lamp followed by the recital of the University Kulgeet. 

Dr. Ashutosh Bhatt (Resource Person) said that the FDP was designed to provide an exposure to the fundamentals of Robotics and Artificial intelligence through hands-on training and practice sessions that teach kinematics and dynamics of industrial manipulators, kinematics of mobile robots, trajectory planning, path planning and control, embedding intelligence in robotics tasks, and intelligent agents.

In his address, Prof. (Dr.) N.K Joshi welcomed all the participants and emphasized upon the need of such programmes for the overall growth of faculty members. He further stated that AI and robotics are the powerful combination for automating tasks inside and outside of the factory setting. He emphasized upon the need of such programmes for the over-all growth of faculty members and expressed his conviction that such programmes add value to their stature.

Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri addressed the audience regarding the significance of such FDPs and explained how they can help the faculty members in their growth ultimately leading to institutional development. He emphasized that research orientation is a pre-requisite for their personal advancement. 

Thereafter, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K Joshi distributed Participation Certificates to all the participants of the Training Programme.

Mr. Abhishek Pathak thanked everyone for their active participation in the programme, thus, making it a success.
