With the advancement in engineering, technology and methods, Human life has become effortless in various ways. Credit can be given to countless scientists and Engineers, who have worked tirelessly towards generating new technology and devices. Today, students who wish to join Engineering courses as a career should adhere to advanced pedagogy and upgrade themselves in terms of individual character, ethics, values and learning skills. Based on these demands, Uttaranchal University IEEE Students Chapter and Uttaranchal Institute of Technology, organized an online Webinar ‘Engineering in 21st Century – Essential Basics to Remember’ on 16 December, 2020.
The objective of online webinar was to sensitize the First Year students of the Institute about the culture and best practices that should be followed during the entire course.
Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar (Director- UIT) delivered the Welcome Address and introduced the eminent speaker to the audience. His opening words induced enthusiasm in the audience as he briefed about the importance of an appropriate start for any task and its impact on the outcome and efficacy of the that particular task, Engineering in this case. He encouraged the students to follow the advises to be given by the Speaker in his session.
Dr. Rohit Khoker was the Keynote Speaker. Dr. Khoker is a passionate motivational speaker and technology professional with more than 15 years’ of experience in India and neighbouring countries.
In his opening statement he welcomed the students and faculty members and asked the students about the differences that they were feeling after leaving the school and joining the University. Audience gave him mixed and humorous responses. Then he emphasised the role of Internet and other technologies in day to day life and drew a comparison between successful people and others by different examples from the real world. Continuing the session, Dr. Khoker gave the success mantra in form of Do’s and Don’ts while pursuing the Engineering Course. At Last, Dr. Khoker told the popular “The Tortoise and The Hair” story in today’s context and concluded the session by telling the importance of team work, smart working and togetherness.
Mr. Somil Kumar Gupta (Assistant Professor, CSE) organized the online webinar using Microsoft Team platform.
Dr. Minakshi Memoria, HOD-CSE, proposed the Vote of Thanks to all attendees in the Webinar. It was attended by the Faculty Members and Students of all the colleges of Uttaranchal University.
