School of Agriculture observes ‘World Milk Day’

School of Agriculture (SOA) observed the 21st anniversary of ‘World Milk Day’ on 1st June, 2021 by organizing an event entitled ‘Sustainability in the Dairy Sector with Messages on Nutrition’. The event initiated with a Welcome Note delivered by the Dean-SOA. He addressed the UG and the PG students of Agriculture and explained the importance of milk in a balanced diet. He further advised consumption of quality milk. The event continued with a lecture delivered by Mr. Avadh Bihari Pal (Assistant Professor-SOA). He disseminated information on the significance of milk as global food through an online Power Point Presentation. Mr. Pal emphasized by saying “More than two decades ago, the FAO proposed a global Milk Day to recognize the importance of milk and the role that it plays in our world. In addition, this day was also created to provide direct focus to the milk industry and publicize the various activities connected with it. In fact, the dairy industry supports the livelihoods of approximately 1 billion people throughout the world!”

HOD-SOA appreciated the conduct of the event. He pointed out the significance of milk as a complete food and stated that it enhances immunity.

Dean-SOA praised the efforts of everyone for the smooth conduct of the event.
