Law College Dehradun organizes an Intra-Collegiate Debate Competition on National Voters’ Day

Law College Dehradun organized an Intra-Collegiate Debate Competition under the aegis of Aarambh-The Debating Society on the occasion of National Voter’s Day. The debate was held on 25th January, 2019 bilingually on the topic “THBT Voting should be mandatory in India”. The event was marked by the benign presence of Hon’ble Chief Guest Dr. Abhishek Joshi (Director – Student Affairs and IT Services), Dignified Patron, Principal & Dean Prof.(Dr.)Rajesh Bahugana, Prof. (Dr.) Poonam Rawat (HOD-Law) along with an esteemed judging panel comprising of Mr. Kumar Ashutosh (HOD-Humanities and Languages, Mr. Anjum Parwez and Dr. Amit Kumar. The event began with the lighting of lamp by the dignitaries and judges. A total of six speakers presented their debate and moved the crowd with their eloquent and vibrant speeches.

Principal & Dean Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna addressed the gathering and shared his insights on voting, its importance and added that it is the responsibility of every citizen of the nation and voting should be mandatory. He conveyed his heartiest appreciation to the debaters as well as ‘Aarambh’ for organizing the event, celebrating National Voters Day.

Jolly Singh of B.A.LL.B 2nd Year emerged as the winner, while Mannu Kumar of B.A.LL.B 2nd Year and Manvi Aggarwal of B.B.A.LL.B of 1st Year secured second and third positions respectively. The event eventually ended with the recital of the National Anthem. Present on the occasion were faculty members and students of Law College Dehradun.
