Joshi, Principal & Dean Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna and Resource Person Dr. Himanshu Pandey Associate Professor, NLU, Nagpur. The session began with the tradition of lightening of the auspicious lamp and felicitation of the guest by the Chancellor followed by the University Anthem.

Principal & Dean Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna in his Inaugural Address gave a cordial welcome to the guest and gave a brief introduction about him. Dr. Himanshu Pandey is presently working as an Associate Professor & Head, Centre for Corporate Law & Governance at Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur. Prior to this, Prof. Pandey was the Registrar of National Law University & Judicial Academy, Assam (Guwahati). He has been a member of Under Graduate Board of Studies, Faculty of Law, Rajiv Gandhi Central University, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. He is specialized in Corporate Laws, Import & Export Laws, Insurance Law, Company Law and Banking Law.

Dr. Pandey began the Session for Day-1 by explaining the basic concept of qualitative research methodology. Hence the Workshop started with some theoretical input sessions so as to help the participants to brush up their knowledge on basic research methods. The theme of the Workshop was to improve the quality of research, enable the participants to define the research problem. The Workshop was expected to cover the basics of research methodology focusing on theoretical as well as practical inputs. Fundamentals of research, formulation of a research problem, research design, hypothesis and research question, research writing, doctrinal as well as non-doctrinal research was the main topic.

The second day of the event was based on ‘Research Writing’. Dr. Pandey further explained that “Workshop on Research Methodology” symbolizes a belief that understanding the process and procedures are as important as the understanding the substance of law. The core of legal methods and process involves reading, analyzing and synthesizing judicial opinions and interpretation of legislation. The core study of law does not suffice to understand the relationship of law with social sciences and other fields of knowledge. The purpose cannot be achieved without developing the research skills and attributes. Thus in order to achieve the goal of understanding the way in which law progresses, the scholars/ students are encouraged to understand and participate in legal research methodology. The Workshop successfully came to an end with a Question & Answer Session where the young researchers were able to clarify their queries from the resource person.

The two day National Workshop was systematically organized and convened successfully by Dr. Poonam Rawat HOD (Law), and Secretary Dr. Sandhya Verma. The Student Conveners who did a tireless job included Deepsi Rawat, Satarupa Datta, Medha Tankha and Dipesh Ranjan Das. The participants went away gaining valuable knowledge and sublime thoughts on research methodology.
