An Industrial Tour was organized by Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University for the students of Management and IT under the supervision and guidance of Prof.(Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Director-UIM. The tour started on 22nd October, 2018 and concluded on 30th October, 2018. The students visited ‘Skoda Manufacturing Plant’ in South Goa. Approximately 70 students from UG and PG courses participated in the Industrial Tour accompanied by the Faculty Members, namely, Mr. Anil K. Chauhan, Mr. Sameer Dev Sharma and Ms. Lisa Gopal. The successful execution of the tour was also accredited to the immense support extended by Dr. Sonal Sharma, HOD-IT.

The tour was planned to give the students a practical exposure to the corporate working culture. The students were shown various departments of the company where they interacted with the Operations Manager and other technical and managerial staff. They explained the working of the assembly line and different types of operations carried out at different work stations. The students enthusiastically interacted and put forth queries related to the finer details of operations. The staff replied to their queries with relevant facts and figures.

This Visit gave them insights on various managerial and technical skills required while working in an organization. It also helped create an awareness of various business processes like manufacturing, operations, sales and marketing. The students were immensely glad to witness an ultra modern plant deploying innovative practices. The faculty too were enthralled by the vastness of manufacturing plant and the ultra modern techniques executed by the company.

With Goa being a tourist destination, the second lap of the tour was full of fun, frolic and rejuvenation. As part of the excursion the students were taken to various tourist spots like Aguada Fort, Candolim Beach, Baga Beach, Miramar Beach, Daunapaula Beach, to name a few. A Cruise Party was also organized for the students on Mandovi River where the students had a splendid experience of watching live cultural shows and Goan Dance Performances. This helped the students rejuvenate themselves amidst their busy academic schedule.

Overall, the Industrial Tour was a perfect blend of academics and extracurricular life which lent a delightful experience to all the students.
