NSS Wing of the Uttaranchal University and Law College Dehradun, initiated a ‘Legal Awareness Campaign’ on 18th October 2019, under the aegis of NSS Wing, at the Government Higher Secondary School, Bhaniyawala, Sahaspur, Dehradun. The members of NSS of Law College Dehradun namely, Akshay Gautam, Shivam Rana, Rithik Agarwal, Yogesh kumar, Sarthak Singh Bisht, Rishab Manwal and Manish Baluni headed by Dr. Vivek Kumar participated zealously in the session. NSS Members of Law College, Dehradun scheduled a series of school visits on legal awareness and other schemes viz-a-viz the precautions to be taken by children while burning crackers. This particular program has targeted to bring four to five schools in Dehradun district under the ambit of this awareness program every year.
The maiden event of the program was attended by the students of class 6th to 10th along with the faculty members of Government Higher Secondary School, Baniyawala, Sahaspur, Dehradun. NSS volunteers discussed the laws concerning issues like prohibition of child trafficking, sexual harassment, child labor and also informed them about the fundamental rights and duties as guaranteed by the Indian Constitution. The session was an interactive one wherein the students inquired about various provisions of law and especially about Article 370 of the Indian Constitution. A set of law books was also provided to the students in order to create legal awareness amidst the young minds. The Principal of the School addressed the gathering and applauded the NSS volunteers for their community service.
