A two-day National Seminar entitled “Strategies for Conservation & Sustained Utilization of Biodiversity” was organized by Uttaranchal University on 18th and 19th October, 2019. The Seminar was inaugurated on 18th October with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. The dignitaries included Chief Guest Dr. R.B.S Rawat (Former Principal, Chief Conservator of University), Mr. Jitender Joshi (Chancellor – Uttaranchal University), Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi (Vice Chancellor- Uttaranchal University), Prof. Kusum Arunachalam (Dean – Doon University) and Dr. A.K. Dixit (Principal Scientist – Central Pulp & Paper, Research Institute, Saharanpur).
Dr. Vikas Rana (Head – Cellulose & Paper Division, F.R.I, Dehradun), Dr. Shailendra Tripathi (Principal Scientist, IIP-Dehradun), Dr. G.K. Dogra, Prof. S.V. Mishra (Allahabad), Dr. Ajay Singh (Dean – Research & Studies), Dr. Nishesh Sharma (Head – Department of Biotechnology), Dr. Vivekanand Bahuguna (Department of Biotechnology) along with many other luminaries participated in the seminar.
Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi, in his Inaugural Address, welcomed the Chief Guest and Keynote Speakers and focused on conservation & sustained utilization of biodiversity & appreciated the efforts of School of Applied & Life Sciences for organizing such events.
Dr. Kusum Arunachalam delivered her speech and her opinions on conservation & sustained utilization of biodiversity. Prof. Kusum Arunachalam and Dr. Vikas Rana focused on conservation & sustained utilization of biodiversity.
Chief Guest Dr. R.B.S. Rawat delivered his views on biodiversity & environment protection and created awareness regarding the present condition and solutions towards environment protection.
Convener of the Seminar briefed about the theme of the seminar and the technical sessions. He informed that about 95 Faculty Members, Scientists, Research Scholars & Students participated in the Seminar. He further informed that about 200 papers were received for publication out of which 87 papers were selected for Oral Presentation & the remaining for Poster Presentation. The day concluded with the release of Abstract Book along with the 2nd Issue of Journal of Applied & Life Sciences.
