Chess tournament was organized by Uttaranchal College of Applied & Life Sciences

Indoor sports provide a platform for students to improve their logical thinking, analytical reasoning and problem solving skills. Keeping this purpose in mind chess tournament was organized by Chemistry& Physics department, UCALS under the aegis of sports committee of the college on 19 Feb, 2019. More than 20 students from different Departments of Physics, Chemistry, Food-tech, Biotech and Mathematics participated in the tournament. All necessary arrangement for the tournament was done by Sumit Kumar, Bipin Samant and Talib Hussain. The First Round was played on knock out basis after which the students proceeded to second round. Winner of the tournament was Sumit Kumar, B.Sc –IIIrdSem Chemistry and the runner up was Talib Hussain, B.Sc –IIIrd Sem Chemistry. The tournament was successfully accomplished under the presence of the faculty coordinators Mr. Prateek Uniyal, Mr. Shivam Pandey and Dr. Vivekanand Bahuguna.

Dr. Ajay Singh, Principal –UCALS congratulated the Organizing Committee for organizing such a competitive & learning event. He also encouraged all the students to participate in all the sporting events organized by the college and promoted by the University to make their personality multi-faceted and grow not only as a professional but also as an individual and a responsible citizen of the country.
