Save water, and it will save you!
World Water Day was celebrated by members of the Environmental Club, Eco-Cops- “The Home of Eco-Warriors”, of UIT & SALS, Uttaranchal University on, 22 March 2022. The day was celebrated to raise consciousness about water.
The World Water Day theme 2022 is “Groundwater, Making the Invisible Visible”. As groundwater is a crucial resource it needs to be utilized judiciously. The day marked the efforts of Eco- cops to raise consciousness about water and show their concern for sustainable management of freshwater resources.
The event was inaugurated by lighting of auspicious lamp by Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, President, Eco-Club Prof (Dr)V K Srivastava, Prof (Dr) B S Rawat, Dr Nishesh Sharma, Prof (Dr) Bharti Ramola, Coordinator Eco- Club, Prof (Dr) Poonam Negi Treasurer Eco- Club, Ms Madhu Kirola, Representative UIT and Mr Gaurav Negi. In the welcome speech, Prof Ajay Singh spoke about the scarcity of water around the globe and said that being from the Engineering and Science field all the students need to create awareness about the importance of water, especially freshwater. He appreciated the efforts of Prof (Dr) Bharti Ramola, Ms Madhu Kirola and Mr Gaurav Negi for coordinating the event with the help of student coordinators. A Picture Perception Competition was organized where students were shown some pictures and they had to write a story based on their understanding.
Fun games namely Sac Race and Three-legged Race were also organised. Students enjoyed themselves a lot on the occasion.
A vote of thanks was proposed by Prof (Dr) Bharti Ramola, who appreciated the efforts of all student coordinators of Eco-Cops namely Soubhagya Krishan Dev, Ashita Aswal, Aakash Tyagi, Animesh Raturi, Tuba Urooz, Keshav Sharma, Hannah Mihika, Kriti and Nishat for proper conduction of the event.
Many members of faculty and students were present on the occasion.
