September 27 is recognized as World Tourism Day. Who wouldn’t love to travel across the world? It’s well-known that the tourism industry has been drastically affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So, this year, the World Tourism Day 2021 theme is Tourism for Inclusive Growth. The day is completely dedicated to the people who’re relentlessly working for the growth of the tourism industry.
Keeping the above theme in mind World Tourism Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and gusto by the Hospitality Club, Department of Hotel Management, Uttaranchal University on 27th September 2021.
The first event was the “Taste of Uttaranchal University” which was based on Salad making. This event was coordinated by Mr Bikky Singh Panwar, Assistant Professor and Mr Hitendra Singh Chauhan, Assistant Professor. Total 10 teams participated in this event. The objective behind the competition was to inculcate healthy food habits and spread awareness towards the choice of food among the youth. The participants’ creativity showcased the beautiful designs and patterns formed with different mouth-watering salad.
The Winners of ‘Taste of Uttaranchal University’ were as follows:
I Position: Mr Anshul Singh Bhati, BBA I Semester
II Position: Mr Deshraj Nautiyal, BHM-VII Semester
III Position: Mr Mohd. Faizan, CHM-I Semester
The second event was a Poster making competition based on the theme of World Tourism Day 2021 It coordinated by Mr Abhishek Negi, Assistant Professor. Students enthusiastically participated in the competition. The Winners of ‘Poster making competition’ were as follows:
I Position: Ms B Jessica Chakma BHM-V Semester
II Position: Ms Kalsh Thapa BHM-I Semester
III Position: Ms Ishleen Narula BHM-I Semester
The third event was a Quiz competition based on the hospitality industry. This event was coordinated by Mr Surendra Singh Bhakuni, Assistant Professor. The competition was indeed a great opportunity for the students to test themselves and showcase their competitive spirit. The Winners of ‘Quiz competition’ were as follows:
I Position: Ms B Jessica Chakma BHM-V Semester
II Position: Mr Aakash Kumar
III Position: Mr Hritik, Mr. Shivam[U1]
The event was organised by Hospitality Club under the guidance of Mr Manish Badoni, Head of Department, Department of Hotel Management.
In the end, Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri Dean-UIM presented certificates to the winners of the event and blessed them for all future endeavours. He also extended his wishes and motivated all the faculty members to initiate more activities for students to share the knowledge.
