On world cancer day 4th February 2022, a webinar on “Cancer biology and diagnostics” was organised by Biogenerika – Student Club, School of Applied and Life sciences (SALS), in association with DNA labs, Dehradun (ICMR and NABI certified). The objective of the webinar was to create awareness about cancer causes, therapies, and preventive measures along with Diagnostics. The webinar began with the welcome of dignitaries, invited experts and participants. In the inaugural address, Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, Dean, SALS briefed about the motive behind conducting such programmes. Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Vice-Chancellor, Uttaranchal University emphasized on the role of the scientific community to research preventive and therapeutic methods to combat cancer. In the technical session the invited expert Dr Narotam Sharma, Director and Scientist, DNA labs delivered an informative talk on cervical cancer along with other technical aspects of a cancer diagnosis. In his interactive session, valuable and scientific information about the occurrence and progression of cancer was provided. Another scientific officer of DNA labs, Ms Ankita depicted the latest technology and instrument along with biosafety guidelines adopted and followed utilized in molecular diagnostics through video presentations and virtual tours of different laboratories. Technical sessions by experts were followed by presentations by participants. Akshat Srivastava was awarded the best presentation and Pallavi Upadhyay and Kavita were awarded second and third prize. The event was coordinated by Biogenrika- Student club. Dr Nishesh Sharma, Dr Indra Rautela, Dr Rakseh Matura, Dr Monika, Dr Minakshi and Priyvart contributed to successful conduction of the webinar.
