Valedictory Ceremony of National Nutrition Week (1-7th September, 2021)

With the motive to intensify awareness on the importance of nutrition for health, an annual nutrition event is observed in the country from 1 to 7 September every year. The National Nutrition Week, as it is called, was conceived by the Food and Nutrition Board in the year 1982 as an annual event. This year the theme of the National nutrition week was Feeding Smart right from the start. The department of Food Technology, School of applied and Life Sciences organized a series of events to mark the National Nutrition week. The week began with the gracious blessing and guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Dean of School of Applied and Life Sciences (SALS). He welcomed Honourable Chancellor Shri. Jitender Joshi Sir and Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Bahuguna. Respected chancellor sir and vice chancellor sir motivated and encouraged all the participants. They also congratulated Department of Food Technology for conduction of the events and encourage the students for future participation in the events.

In context to this, plethora of events such as “The Health Chef”: A cooking competition (Low Calorie/Nutritious/ Healthy Food, Poster /Slogan competition on the theme ‘Good Food For Healthy India’, A Quiz competition on the theme ‘Good Food’s Ultimate Food & Drink Quiz’, A Food Photography competition on the theme ‘Savory Delights’ and A Guest Lecture on theme “Feeding Smart Right From Start” have been organised. The guest lecture conducted by Dr M.C. Nautiyal, Ex Dean, Department of Horticulture, GBPAU&T on 4th September, 2021.  Dr Nautiyal emphasized on the importance of good Nutrition in the life and how, when and what to eat. The event ended by the valedictory session conducted by organizing members of the event , Mr. Rajeev kumar, Mr Yogesh Kumar Awasthi, Mr Mohd Kamran, Mr Rajat Singh, Mr Junaid Aman and Miss Arshi Siddiqui. The winners were presented with the prizes by Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Dean of School of Applied and Life Sciences (SALS) and Dr Sukriti Singh, Head of Department. The event was a great success with active participation from the students. The event provided an opportunity for the students to use their knowledge by expressing their creative ideas in the canvas. The enthusiasm shown by the students to showcase their talent was highly praised by one and all.
