Uttaranchal University firmly believes that the future generation has the ability to sensitize others and prevent spread of HIV. Right education and Right practices can not only curb the spread of this deadly disease but also save millions of lives and the onus of this rests on the shoulders of the youth of the country. It was this belief in the power of youth which inspires the University and the NSS unit to observe the World Aids Day. The university organized several activities on December 1, 2017 to spread the word among the youth to prevent the spread of HIV. The students and the volunteers wore red ribbon as a mark of spreading awareness. Slogan Writing and Poster Making Competition was held to make the youth aware about the situation.
The students showed their creativity and passion in giving the grim message by the use of colors in so vibrant a way. The event saw the participation of more than hundred students. The students were given prizes for their efforts. Dr. V. K. Srivastava who was the inspiration behind conducting of this activity, while sharing his views said that HIV is a disease whose only cure is prevention and the youth of the country is responsible enough to ensure the safe measures to prevent its spread.
