Uttaranchal University Center for Incubation, Innovation & Entrepreneurship (UUCIIE) along with its E-Cell (SALS) organizes an Open House Session on ‘Entrepreneurship’

Uttaranchal University Center for Incubation, Innovation & Entrepreneurship (UUCIIE) along with its E-Cell (School of Applied and Life Sciences) organized an Open House Session on ‘Entrepreneurship’ on 11th February, 2020. Dr. Shashi Ranjan, Vice President (Export), Natural Herbs and Formulation, Dehradun, was the invited expert. The dignitaries present on the occasion included Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi, Director – Student Affairs & IT Services Dr. Abhishek Joshi, Principal – School of Applied and Life Sciences Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh and Chairperson – UUCIIE Dr. Vandana Joshi.

The program commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by all the dignitaries followed by the recital of the University Anthem.

The event comprised of two sessions. In the First Session Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh welcomed all the dignitaries & students and emphasized on the importance & aim of the event. Dr. Vandana Joshi informed that 09 companies have been registered by the students of Uttaranchal University and 06 projects are underway. She also introduced the Chief Speaker and motivated the students to be an entrepreneur. Vice Chancellor of Uttaranchal University Prof. (Dr.) N. K.Joshi, in his address, enlisted and elaborated upon the necessary components required for becoming an entrepreneur.

Dr. Shashi Ranjan enlightened the students with regards to marketing strategies and the importance of entrepreneurship. He made the students aware of the government rules and regulations to start a startup and answered the queries of the students. He briefed the students about FSSAI guidelines for the establishment of a food industry.

In the Second Session a ‘Business Idea Contest’ was organized. 14 student groups, from different colleges of Uttaranchal University, presented their ideas for starting their startups. Students from Biotechnology, Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Management and Pharmacy presented their ideas which were judged by Dr. Vandana Joshi, Dr. Shuchi Upadhyay and Mr. Chandra Kant Joshi.

More than two hundred students of both graduate and post graduate courses participated in this event. Head – Department of Biotechnology Dr. Nishesh Sharma, Head – Department of Physics, Dr. B. S. Rawat, Head – Department of Food Technology Dr. Shuchi Upadhyay along with other faculty members marked their presence in the event.

The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Bindu Naik.
