Law College Dehradun, organized a Field Trip to HESCO (Himalayan Environment Studies and Conservation Organization) Village on 11th February 2020, under the aegis of ‘VASUNDHARA – The Green Society’. HESCO Village, located at Shuklapur, Premnagar, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, is an NGO run by Padmashree Dr. Anil Kumar Joshi. It is truly rural as it derives inspiration from the villages and devises solutions for their problems. It helps the people to focus on their economic and development needs and encourages them to tap local resources that open up new avenues to self-reliance. The innovative and ecologically sound solutions adopted by them inspired the students and gave them an insight on how rural human resources could be utilised towards economic development. The pioneering work of Dr. Anil Joshi and his team focuses on developing the hill populace and making them self reliant.
The various techniques adopted by them to control soil erosion, to generate power and disaster management methods ignited the student community to lead a Spartan life, one with nature. The students were motivated by the Hon’ble Patron Principal & Dean Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna for this visit and indeed it was a successful trip hosted by the society.
