UIT has organized the “Poetry Competition” under University Literary Club, Uttaranchal University, on the occasion of World International Literacy Day- 2022 with full vivacity and enthusiasm on Thursday, 08 September 22.
This day is celebrated today to inspire young writers and poets to enhance their creative activities and to promote reading as a means of empowering both people and entire communities.
The event started with paying Homage to Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge through Saraswati Vandana and Lamp Lightening Ceremony by the dignitaries. Prof (Dr) S D Pandey, Dean UIT, encouraged participants with their motivational worlds, He shared his views regarding the importance of Celebrating International Literacy Day. The students from different colleges of the University participated in the event. A total of forty students participated in the poetry competition.
Prof (Dr). Anil Kumar Dixit, Chairperson, Literary Club, Uttaranchal University, was the Judge of the event. Among various colleges Ms Shaurya Dangwal student of B Com (Hons.), UIM was the winner of the event, whereas Aditi Sharma, UIM and Ms Pritika Rana, B Tech (CSE) first year, UIT stood the 1st and 2nd Runner Up of the event respectively. During the event all the faculty members of UIT were present. Students of Mechanical Engineering volunteered at the event to make the program successful. At the valedictory session, certificates were distributed among Winners followed by the vote of thanks proposed by Ms Ruby Pant, Literary Club Member.
