Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS) celebrates Mole Day with the Theme “Chemical Skills with Fun!”

Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, UIPS, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun organized a Competition on the occasion of Mole Day on 23rd October 2021. The topic was “Chemical Skills with Fun”. The celebration of this day certainly encouraged the students to acquire the basic knowledge of chemistry, especially in the era of pharmacy. On this occasion a motivational and inspirational talk was delivered by the Chief Guest of the event Prof Dharam Buddhi, Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University. In his address he discussed how the contribution of Science had revolutionized our day to day activities, and made our life much easier. The event was organized by the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Club of UIPS, coordinated by Ms Vanshika Khare, Mr Rakshit Gupta, Mr Ritesh Jha, Ms Nupur Jha , Ms Nupur Kataria and Mr Vikas Kumar. The objective of the activity was motivating the students to explore their skills in the practical and theoretical aspects for their intellectual expansion. The event also aimed to promote the values of chemistry in everyday life.

Dr Vikash Jakhmola, Dean-UIPS also motivated all the participants to express their views, and enhance presentation and time management skills for getting a winning edge in the competitive sphere. The eminent Judges for today’s competition were Dr Bharti Ramola, Associate  Professor, SALS, and Dr Poonam Rawat, Associate Professor, SALS, Uttaranchal University. The Participants were screened out through the elimination round conducted on 19 October, 2021 in which more than eighty students had enrolled. A total of thirty students actively participated in the competition with full enthusiasm and interest. The winners of the competition were Ms Arjeeta, Khushi and Ayush who demonstrated and explained the use of Elephant Toothpaste. The runner up team comprised Marhaba, Bhawana and Chhoti Kumari who gave a demonstration of the Silver Tree Experiment. Other experiments like Dancing Blue Flame, Jinnie Magic , Blue Bottle, Iodine Clock, Colour Change in Betadine, Flame Show were also demonstrated and appreciated by all.

The event ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr Amit Semwal, HOD, UIPS who applauded the creativity and presentation by the students in the event and congratulated the winners. The event was coordinated by Mrs Kiran Dobhal, and Mrs Pallavi Ghildiyal along with faculty members Dr Tarun Parashar, Mrs Pallavi Ghildiyal. Mrs  Jyotsana, Ms Mahamedha and Mrs Nidhi were also present on this occasion.
