Uttaranchal Institute of Management organizes a Seminar on ‘Modalities to work out a start up’

Uttaranchal Institute of Management organized a Seminar on ‘Modalities to work out a start up’ on 8th September, 2018. The objective of organizing this seminar was to show the right track to be followed, provide the students with the required knowledge to become young entrepreneurs and help them to excel in their chosen ventures.

Dr. Abhishek Joshi, Director – Student Affairs and IT Services, graced the event by his benign presence.

Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri (Director- UIM) delivered the Welcome Address and introduced the eminent speakers to the audience. His opening words instilled enthusiasm in the audience as he briefed them about the influence of start ups in boosting the business and economy of the country. He shared that start-ups contributes 76% towards the US economy. Further, he also presented the statistics about the start ups in India stating that according to NASSCOM Report of 2015, India is home to 3100 start ups starting per year and stands just behind US, UK and Israel. He also said that if the startup growth continues in the same pace then it is expected that Indian Tech Startups will generate almost 2.5 lakh jobs in the next 5 years. Further, by 2020 India will become home to 112 million working population within the age bracket of 20-24 years as compared to China which has 94 million of working population in the same age bracket.

Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi Vice-Chancellor-Uttaranchal University motivated the students to initiate start ups. He told the students about the E-Cell of Uttaranchal University with 20 cabins which can be used as Office by the students who want to start their start up business. He also detailed the students about the E-Cell Contest, in which students have been asked for their start up business plans. Out of the selected entries the one which would be rated First will get Rs. 10 lakh from FICCI, second 5 Best Business Plans will get Rs. 2 lakh each from FICCI and the Third 5 Best Business Plans will be given Rs. 20,000/ from the Uttaranchal University.

Mr. Nitesh Kaushik, Co-Founder and Chief Consultant, Vembryo Consulting was the Keynote Speaker. He has also achieved the State Government Award for Start Up Awareness.He motivated the students for Start Ups and advised them that it is not necessary to put in big amount of capital for start ups, rather they should start with a smaller amount of capital and can reap considerable amount of profits by implementing the right strategies in their ventures. The Keynote Speaker then told the audience to keep working in the right direction and thereby multiply their business exponentially. He also told that one should discuss the idea with many related people before executing it and should not be fearful of getting the concept stolen away because it is your baby and only you have the confidence and capability to execute it. He expressed a message for all the students saying that they should have passion and desire to be successful in their chosen fields. It is basically the planning followed by proper execution and post execution planning which should be taken care of while venturing into a viable business.

Mr. Pranjal Tiwari, Co-Founder and Chief Consultant, Just Comfort shared that being a student he achieved great heights and believed that one can have results or excuses, not both. His main emphasis was that hard work always pays off.

All the speakers directed the audience’s thoughts towards proper planning, time management and following the right track in order to be successful as entrepreneurs. The distinguished speakers shared their experiences of being a successful entrepreneurs starting from scratch with minimum cash in hand to establishing empires that they own.

Ms. Anu Sayal, (Coordinator-UUCIIE) was the Master of the Ceremony for the event and she also proposed the Vote of Thanks to all present in the Seminar. All the Faculty Coordinators along with Student Coordinators didn’t leave any stone unturned in making the event a success with their dedication and timely execution.

It was attended by the Faculty Members and Students of all the constituent colleges of Uttaranchal University.
