An Educational Visit was organised by Department of Biotechnology, Uttaranchal College of Applied & Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University on February 2, 2019 for B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. Biotechnology. The visit was conceptualized and conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Principal – SALS & Dean-Research & Studies, Uttaranchal University. The visit was coordinated by Dr. Indra Rautela (Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology) and Dr. Vivekanand Bahuguna (Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology). The visit was aimed to provide an exposure of advancements in tools and techniques utilized in the field of molecular biology and biochemistry. During the visit, the students were guided by Mr. D. D. Pandey (Deputy Director, DNA Labs) and Mr. Tejpal (Jr. Scientist, DNA Labs).
The visit commenced by a PowerPoint Presentation delivered by Mr. D D Pandey wherein he briefed about the different aspects of organization and functioning of research and development laboratory, and the principles & applications of various bio analytical instruments. The presentation was followed by the demonstration of bio analytical instruments. The students acquired information about various aspects of clinical pathology along with working of numerous bio-analytical instruments such as Biochemical Analyzer, PCR, Cooling and non-cooling Centrifuge, etc. The technical session wasfollowed by an interactive session during which the queries raised by students were answered and discussed with the experts. The visit proved to be extremely beneficial as it provided sound knowledge to students regarding latest bio-analytical techniques and technology in the field of clinical pathology and biotechnology.
