A ‘Poster Competition’ was organized by Guards of Green Club of Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences on the occasion of “World Wetland Day” on 2nd Febuary, 2019. Shri. Jitender Joshi, Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi, Vice Chancellor and Dr. Abhishek Joshi, Director – Student Affairs and IT Services inaugurated the event. 39 participants took part in the event.
Hon’ble Chancellor Shri. Jitender Joshi congratulated all the participants and shared his feeling stating that he wished to see the young generation getting aware and making others aware regarding the betterment of environment.
Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi, Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University appreciated the efforts made by the Department and the participants towards serious global issues and understanding the importance of conservation of wetlands.
Posters on all types of wetlands such as lakes, beaches, rivers, mangroves, estuaries, marshes, etc. were presented stressing on the threats faced by these ecosystems such as reclamation due to development, pollution, dumping of garbage and release of effluents.
Dr. Abhishek Joshi, Director – Student Affairs and IT Services, appreciated the work done by the students and remarked that competitions of this sort increases the observational skills, response to thoughts, awareness and concern of the students towards global issues.
The Jury decided the Winner and Runner-up prizes, Ekta & Kulveen got the First Prize while Jyoti stood second.
Dr. Anuj Mittal, Director – UIPS congratulated the team of Guards of Green and Mr. Tarun Parashar (Faculty Coordinator) for organizing the event and making it a success. He also suggested the best poster to be framed and placed in the college, thus motivating the students to participate in events.
