Department of Physics, School of Applied and Life Sciences organized an Educational Tour to Regional Science Centre (RSC),Vigyan Dham, Jhajra, Dehradun on 11th August 2018 for the students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics.
The tour was organized in response to the invitation for the students received from Regional Science Centre, UCOST. The students were overwhelmed by the opportunity to attend the talk by the renowned Scientist Prof. Jayant V. Narlikar. He delivered his talk on the topic “Searched for life outside the Earth”. Prof. Narlikar talked about cosmos, existence of the planet Pluto in the cosmos and existence of life outside the earth. He also discussed how the payloads were launched in the outer atmosphere of the earth, microbiological samples collection and their analysis at different research laboratories in different countries. Students keenly listened to Prof. Narlikar and were able to understand the concept of cosmos and also became aware about the worldwide development in astrophysics and astrology.
The students also visited the Himalayan Gallery and became aware about the Himalayan Geology and Geography. They gained an insight into tourism, culture and traditional knowledge of Himalayas.
The students were accompanied by Dr. B.S. Rawat, Head – Department of Physics and Mr. Prateek Uniyal.
