A Training Programme on “Quality Control and Analytical Techniques” was organized by Department of Biotechnology and Chemistry, Uttaranchal College of Applied and Life Sciences (UCALS) from 22nd -27th February, 2019. The Invited Guests / Technical Experts of the Inaugural Session were Mr. Rahul Windlass (MD- Vedlife Savers Private Limited, Dehradun), Dr. Anil Singh (Associate Director, Vedlife Savers Private Limited, Dehradun), Dr. Sachin Chauhan (Director-Taq Gene, Dehradun) and Dr. Saurabh Srivastava (Quality Head, Ved life Savers Private Limited, Dehrdaun). The event was inaugurated by the lighting the auspicious lamp by Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi, Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University and Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Principal -UCALS & Dean – Research & Studies), Dr. Nishesh Sharma (Head – Department of Biotechnology) along with Invited Guests and Technical Experts. Lightning of lamp was followed by presentation of memento and bouquet to all Invited Guests as a gesture of appreciation.
Academicians, students, research scholars and persons from industry & different institutes participated in the Training Programme. In his Welcome Address Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi emphasized on the importance and significance of organizing Training Programmes and how they are equally valuable for students, academicians and persons from industry. He briefed that such training programmes serve as a source of not only updating knowledge base but also provide exposure to latest technologies. Convener of the Training Programme Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh in his address briefed about the Training Programme and the expertise of Invited Guests and Technical Experts. In his address he also provided an insight about basic and fundamental knowledge on analytical techniques utilized in industries. Mr. Rahul Windlass in his Keynote Lecture emphasized on qualities and skills to pursue a successful career in industries. Dr. Anil Singh in his Invited Talk elaborated on the significance of quality assurance and SOP’s. Dr. Saurabh Srivastava delivered his Invited Talk on Quality Control Management.
On the second day of the Training Programme three sessions were held including Technical Session of FTIR (by Dr. Rohit Sharma), Quantitative Estimation of Biomolecules (by Dr. Nishesh Sharma) and Technical as well as Interactive Session on Volumetric Analysis by Dr. Ajay Singh.
Participants as an integrated part of Training Programme visited Vedlife Savers Private Limited, Dehradun and Taq Gene Research Laboratory, Dehradun on 24th February, 2019 and 25th February, 2019 respectively so as to get practical exposure about technical aspects of Quality Control and Bioanalytical Techniques.
On the fifth day of the Training Programme (26th February, 2019) three Technical Sessions were conducted including session on “Applications of Bioanalytical Techniques” by Mr.Tejpal (Scientist, DNA Labs Research Institute, Dehradun), followed by another session on “Aspects of Quality Assurance and Technical Skills required in Pharma and Chemical Industry” by Dr. Saurabh Srivastava (Quality Head, Ved life Savers) and post lunch a session on “Isolation, purification and characterization of enzymes was conducted, Dr. Gyanendra Awasthi from Dolphin Institute, Dehradun was the expert for the session.
On 27th February 2019, first Technical Session was conducted on principle, procedure and application of different techniques of electrophoresis by Dr. Indra Rautela and another Technical Session on Spectrophotometric techniques by Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh. Post lunch session included Technical Session on HPLC by Dr. Vinod Kumar. The Training Programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh.
Besides several Technical Sessions the other highlight of the Training Programme was the signing of MoU between Department of Biotechnology, UCALS Uttaranchal University and DNA Labs Research Institute, Dehradun. Another significant MoU was signed between Uttaranchal University and Ved Lifesavers Pvt. Ltd. Dehradun.
The Training Programme was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh who was also the Convener of the Training Programme, the event was coordinated by Dr. Nishesh Sharma as Organizing Secretary and Dr. Waseem Ahmad was the Joint Secretary of the Training Programme whose efforts along with constant support of Dr. Rohit Sharma, Dr. Vivekanand Bahuguna, Dr. Poonam Negi, Dr. Shalini Upadhyay, Mr. Shivam Pandey, Dr. Archana resulted in successful conduction of the Training Programme. The whole event was executed by Dr. Indra Rautela. The Training Programme proved to be successful in achieving the target goals and objectives.
