Industrial Visit to Patanjali Food and Herbal Park

Department of Food Technology, School of Applied and Life Sciences organized an Industrial Visit to ‘Patanjali Food and Herbal Park (Haridwar)’ on October 22, 2018.

The Industrial Visit was designed by Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh (Principal-SALS) and coordinated by Dr. Shuchi Upadhyay Tiwari (Head-Department of Food Technology).

Seventy two students of B.Sc. and M.Sc. (Food Technology) accompanied by three Faculty Members of Department of Food Technology, namely, Dr. Shuchi Upadhyay, Dr. Richa Badola and Mr. Prateek visited ‘Patanjali Food and Herbal Park’. The visit aimed to understand the technologies used in Food Industry in the manufacturing of Processed Food and other Herbal products.

The PRO of Food Park Mr. K.K Mishra conducted a highly informative session for the students. He explained about different food processing technologies utilized in the Park and described the varied aspects of ‘Patanjali Food and Herbal Park’ in detail. He informed that ‘Patanjali Food and Herbal Park’ is the biggest Food Park in the world till date and comes under the ‘Mega Food Park Scheme’ of Ministry of Food and Processing Industry, Govt. of India. Mr. Mishra took the students and faculty members on a tour of various sections of the Food Park.

The Food Park is divided into four major blocks, A, B, C and D (Beverages, Cosmetics, Spices and Ayurvedic). The park is capable of producing more than 850 brands of food products and herbal products with a capacity of 1500 tones. The packaging of flour and cosmetic products was also shown to the students which included Candy Plant, Juice Plant, Pachak, Pickle Plant and Dant Kanti Tooth Paste Plant.
