School of Applied and Life Sciences organizes an Educational Tour to ONGC Museum

An Educational Tour to ONGC Museum was organized by SALS for the students of B.Sc.(Hons.) Mathematics on 14th February, 2019. The Tour was organized by the faculty members of the Department of Mathematics comprising of Dr. V.K Srivastava (Head –Department of Mathematics), Dr. Ajay Kumar, Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Dr. Mohit Kumar and Dr. Shalu Choudhary.

The students visited ONGC Museum and were surprised to see a pendulum moving in clockwise direction. They were informed that the movement of the pendulum was based on the motion of the Earth. After taking a comprehensive round of the museum the students proceeded to see a short movie based on the discovery of crude oil, it`s extraction from the earth core and the different ways in which we use hydrocarbons in our daily life. In the last lap of the tour the students visited a palace where varied spheres like remote sensing, geographical exploration, seismic exploration and historical perspectives were illustrated.
