Dehradun 15 February. Thousands of students of Uttaranchal University paid heartfelt tribute to the CRPF martyrs of Pulwama amid slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” at the university campus today. A candle march was organized on the occasion beginning from Law College of the university to the Shaurya wall situated inside the campus. The candle march was led by Hon’ble Chancellor of the university, Shri Jitender Joshi. The students, teachers and non-teaching staffs of the university thronged to the venue and observed two minutes silence for peace to the departed souls. Names of the martyred soldiers were called one by one accompanying patriotic slogans. The entire campus was emotion packed and some of the students burst into tears.
In his speech, Hon’ble Chancellor of the university, Shri Joshi observed that the entire university is at pains and stunned because of ghastly attack on CRPF soldiers at Pulwama. “We strongly condemn this act of cowardice, offer our heartfelt tribute to the martyred soldiers and pray for speedy recovery of injured soldiers”, said Shri Joshi in his emotional address.
In his address, Principal of Law College Dehradun, Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna exhorted the youth to be ready to fight against terrorism.
“We must take a solemn vow to defend the honor of our country”, said Dr. Bahuguna. Recalling the sacrifice of the soldiers, he expressed hope that the supreme sacrifice of the soldiers would not go in vain and the nation would triumph over terrorism in the ultimate run.
National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Uttaranchal University and its all the faculties organized the tribute ceremony.
