Training programme on Fuel conservation and road safety was organized by Department of Biotechnology, Uttaranchal College of Applied and Life Sciences (UCALS), Uttaranchal University on 21st September 2018. Mr Ashish Vashishth, Energy auditor, PCRA (Petroleum conservation research association) Government of India, New Delhi was the guest of honour and keynote speaker. The whole programme was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh Principal, UCALS. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Nishesh Sharma (Head-Department of Biotechnology), Dr. Rohit Sharma, Dr. Indra Rautela, Dr. Vivekanand Bahuguna and Dr. Ravinder Singh. In the inaugural session Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh addressed the guest and students during which he briefed about the present scenario pertaining to absolute need for conservation of energy resources. As a token of appreciation Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh presented a memento to the guest of honour Mr. Ashish Vashishth, to acknowledge his kind consent and efforts put in to make the programme a success.
The programme comprised of different sessions including fuel conservation and road safety. Sessions were instructed through the mode of power point presentations, interactive videos and discussion. The programme specifically emphasized on sustained and efficient utilization of fuel in order to conserve the fuel and also attains maximum efficiency. Several demonstrations were given so as to provide how day to day operation of vehicles, automobiles can be worked out as to attain maximum efficiency. The programme also provided information related to road safety and enlightened about the basic and common causes leading the road accidents. The programme was followed by a MCQ quiz based upon the concept of fuel conservation and information shared by the expert during the programme. To conclude the programme Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh Principal, UCALS gave the vote of thanks in which he again acknowledged the invited guest, appreciated the efforts of all the members (faculties of department of biotechnology) of organizing committee and students who participated in the programme with full enthusiasm.
