Two days National Debating Competition organized by Law, College Dehradun of ,concluded on 6 April, with the distribution of prizes to the winning teams. The team from Lovely Professional University, Jallandhar, secured first place followed by the teams of Jamia Millia Islamia and Hansraj College, University of Delhi were declared Ist & IInd Runners -up respectively.
Mr. Manoj of Zakir Hussain Delhi College and Mr. Mriganav Borah of Lovely Professional University were declared as Best speakers in Hindi and English respectively.
Former Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, Dr. R. S. Tolia was the Chief Guest at the event. In his address, Dr. Tolia commended the confidence of the speakers and their conviction in presenting their views on the multi party system in India and its effect on the federal structure of the country.
The Chancellor of Uttaranchal University, Mr. Jitendra Joshi gave cash prizes worth Rs. 55,000/- and trophies to the winners. In his address he reiterated the commitment of Uttaranchal University to become a centre of intellectual discourse at the national and international level.
Other dignitaries present at the occasion were, Mrs. Anuradha Joshi, Brig. Anvir Singh Chehal, Cmdt. I.M.A Mr. G.P. Sharma, Dr. S. C. Joshi, Mr.Abhishek Joshi, Dr. Pradeep Suri, Dr. Raj Dhar, Dr. D. S. Chaubey, Dr. Poonam Rawat and the faculty members and the students.
