Poster Making

On the occasion of Tech Fest-2021, School of Agriculture, organized a Poster Making Competition on 27th July 2021 at 1:00 PM. Entries were invited from all the constituent colleges. A good number of participants from various colleges submitted their posters. In first round participants were shortlisted on the basis of Creativity, Message, Presentation and Fulfillment of Theme ‘Health & Hygiene’. The shortlisted students moved to Final Round in which they had to present posters and explain their message. This was a tough round to judge the winners. The event was organized by Ms Rachna Juyal.

Power Point Presentation Competition 2021

Online Tech Fest 2021 Power Point Presentation Competition 2021 on “Gender Sensitization” was organized by UIPS under the aegis of Cultural and Events Committee, Uttaranchal University for the students on 27th July, 2021 at 2:30 pm. The aim of this event was to create awareness about gender sensitivity among students. The competition was conducted on Microsoft Teams.

17 entries from various colleges of Uttaranchal University were received. Top Eight Power Point Presentations were selected for the final round. All the participants expressed their views related to social or work wise on Gender Sensitization. The winners were judged on the basis of Timing, Communication, Presentation and Relativity.

The Winners of Power Point Presentation Competition 2021 were:

1st Winner- Kshitij Joseph, School of Liberal Arts

2nd Winner- Rohit Verma, Law College Dehradun

3rd Winner- Ritesh Jha, UIPS

At the end of the event Dr Tarun Parashar, Event Head, UIPS proposed the vote of thanks to all participants and Cultural and Events Committee for organising Tech Fest-2021. Dr Tarun Parashar, Event Head and Ms Mahamedha Deorar, Event coordinator, UIPS, Uttaranchal University organised the event under the aegis of Cultural and Events Committee, Uttaranchal University.

Debate Competition:

Uttaranchal University organized Tech Fest – 2021 from 26th to 28th July 2021. The Debate Competition of the fest was organized by Law College Dehradun under the aegis of Cultural & Events Committee, Uttaranchal University. 

Prof (Dr) Poonam Rawat, Principal and Head of Law College Dehradun, was the Chief Guest of the event. Prof. (Dr) Bharti Ramola Head Cultural and Events Committee, Uttaranchal University was also present on the occasion. 

Ms Smriti Uniyal, Dr S K Shah and Mr. Kumar Ashutosh, were the Jury members.  

Under the guidance of Mr Amit kumar Chaudhary, Assistant Professor and Chairperson of Aarambh-The Debating Society, the debate was held on 26th July, 2021 in which a number of teams of various colleges of the Uttaranchal University participated. The motion of the debate was- “THBT Yoga should be an Indian patent”. The winners of the debate were, Ms Urmila Saluja and Ms Satakshi Sharma of BBA LLB 3rd Year.

Ms Urmila Saluja spoke for the motion and put forth her views with respect to the motion. She explained how India’s traditional knowledge is being exploited by foreign countries and granting Intellectual Property Rights to this knowledge shall preserve it in its true form.
While speaking against the motion, Ms Shatakshi Sharma explained the technicalities present in the way of patenting Yoga. She stated that the government has taken a few commendable steps in preserving India’s traditional knowledge and there is no immediate need of patent for such cause.

On the occasion of Tech Fest-2021, Uttaranchal Institute of Technology under the aegis of Cultural & Events Committee, Uttaranchal University, organized three events, namely, Mixing of Images, Mastering SQL and Meme Making Competitions, on July 27, 2021. About 40 students participated in Mixing of Images event. Almost 30 students participated in Mastering SQL, and about 40 in Meme Making Competition. Events were organised on three different Microsoft team schedules. Students found the event very attractive and participated actively. All Heads of Departments, Faculty and Staff members contributed to make event as grand success.

Mastering in SQL

Participants were required to generate a SQL query for a database table given to them in the beginning of the event. The given table was very complex with more than one thousand entries of records along with more than 20 attributes. Participants were judged for correctness, compactness, and accuracy of the components of query they wrote for retrieving or manipulating the database given based on problem given to them.

Second Position: Priyansh Rajvanshi- B.Tech CSE 3rd Year

Memes on Theme

Participants were required to submit a Meme based on any of the categories provided to them. However, there was no restriction for participant to submit memes in different categories. The Categories for making memes were like Quarantine Memes, College Life Memes, Reality Shows Memes, and Placement Memes etc. Participants were asked to keep a good resolution in their submissions. They were also judged for memes for its originality and overall humor.

Second Position: Anshul Vashisht- B Tech CSE II Year

Mixing of Images

Participants were required to take an image and hide it appropriately by mixing various other images with it. This was to be done without losing the originality of original image that they had selected. They were asked to maintain the resolution, and distortion level of image/s as optimized and needed.

“Online Quiz Competition on General Knowledge and Awareness”

On the occasion of Tech Fest-2021 on July 26, 2021 School of Applied and Life Sciences organized an online Quiz on General Knowledge and awareness under the aegis of Cultural & Events Committee, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun.

The main objective of this quiz was to explore & improvise the General Knowledge and awareness about Science, Environmental Issues, Indian Culture, and national & International current affairs of the students of Uttaranchal University. Besides the obvious academic benefits of expanding the students’ knowledge and exploring new skills at an early age, Quiz Competitions help in redefining the education system in significant ways.

This Quiz comprised 30 multiple choice based questions on General knowledge, Science, Environmental issues, Indian Culture and National & International Current Affairs. Around 153 students from various Colleges of Uttaranchal University participated in the Quiz. The participants who scored more than 40% got an E-certificate through their registered E- mail. This event was organized by of Dr Vikas Kumar, Event Coordinator, SALS, under the aegis of Cultural & Events Committee, Uttaranchal University.

Uttaranchal University organises Photography Competition under the aegis of Cultural & Events Committee, Uttaranchal University Competition and Exhibition’

On the occasion of “Tech Fest -2021” the School of Liberal Arts Photography Club, under the aegis of Cultural & Events Committee, Uttaranchal University, organized ‘Happy Pixels Online Photography Competition’ on 27thJuly, 2021. The theme for this photography competition was “Swacch Bharat Abhiyan”. The aim was to bring together the fraternity of budding photographers in Uttaranchal University. 

The Students from 7 colleges participated online and submitted the photographs. The photographs were judged on the basis of overall presentation and other technical criteria. The event was not only successful but also played an informative and captivating role. E- Certificates were awarded to the students.

The event was coordinated by Ms Smriti Uniyal, Assistant Professor, School of Liberal Arts under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Bharti Ramola, Head Cultural & Events Committee, Uttaranchal University.

Mind Scribble

‘Make in India’

Uttaranchal Institute of Management under the aegis of Cultural and Events Committee, Uttaranchal University, organized an inter collegiate event Mind Scribble – Online Marketing Quiz on the theme ‘Make In India’ on 26th July 2021. The activity was organized as part of the Tech Fest 21 that was organized from 26th to 28th July 21 at University level. 

Activity was conducted online via Microsoft Teams platform. It was divided into three rounds. First round was a non-elimination round and tested the marketing basics and its current affairs. Second round was a qualifier round where students were asked to identify logos of Indian Brand and the famous business personalities and brand ambassadors of Indian Brands. Five students made it to the final round which was based on brand identification from the advertisements and jingles. Three students were declared winner, first runner up and second runner up. It instilled a competitive spirit amongst the participants who tried their best in answering most questions correctly and to take their college to the winning spot. Though there was negative marking in the second and third round that made the rounds more challenging.

Students participated from various colleges of Uttaranchal University. Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Dean, UIM, graced the event with his benign presence and motivated the students to participate with zest and confidence. He applauded the preparation of the students for the activity and congratulated the winners. Mr Abhishek Kumar Pathak, Member Secretary, Cultural and Events Committee, Uttaranchal University, contributed towards the planning and execution of the activity and encouraged the students during the conduction of the activity. Mr Shivendra Chaudhary, Head – Marketing Club, planned and executed the entire activity and declared the winners at the culmination of the event.
