Students of Department of Hotel Management reach out and try to help migrant workers in their hour of crisis on June 9, 2020

Real education teaches us to help each other.

India may be one the hardest hit countries due to COVID – 19. A large number of migrant workers after losing their livelihood were and are moving back to their villages. This movement is disheartening and carries tales of woe and suffering. We, at our end, can contribute by extending help in whatever way possible.

Students of Department of Hotel Management endeavored to help by distributing food packets and water to the migrant workers heading back towards their home. This effort was initiated by Mr. ChetanSwaroop, student of BHM – IV Semester (DEPARTMENT OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT) since the beginning of this phenomenon. In the initial phase, he served people along with his friends and was later joined by many hands.

In his appeal, Mr. Chetan said, “We feel that as human beings, it’s our responsibility to help the most vulnerable amongst us in their time of need. I appeal to all the citizens of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh to join in our efforts. I also request the state governments to put in place a safety net for those who have lost work during the lockdown.”

Department of Hotel Management, Uttaranchal University acknowledges with pride this endeavor of the students and believe in our hearts that Humanity Will Surely Win.
