Student’s club “Le Sommelier” Department of Hotel Management, UIM observes “” September 27, 2019

World Tourism Day” is observed every year on 27 September. The purpose of celebrating the day is to raise awareness about the role of tourism around the world and to promote social, cultural, political, and economic values.

Student’s club “Le Sommelier” Department of Hotel Management, UIM conducted a ‘Cleanliness Campaign’ to mark the celebrations of “World Tourism Day”. The campaign also highlighted the need of ensuring cleanliness not only in our surroundings but also in places frequently visited by people and tourists as these places become a part of their cherished memories and also reflect our hospitality.

The campaign was flagged by Mr. Manish Badoni, HOD-DEPARTMENT OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT, Uttaranchal University. In his address, Mr. Badoni stated the current year’s theme being “Tourism and jobs: a better future for all”. He informed that as a sector Tourism provides employment to the poorest of the poor.

Students of BHM conducted the campaign in and around BalaSundari Temple, Manduwala, Dehradun. They cleaned the temple premises and the surrounding area. The campaign was hand joined by Faculty Members, namely, Chef Hitendra Singh Chauhan, Mr. Shashi Kant, and Mr. Surendra Singh Bhakuni. Students not only cleaned the area but also learned the importance and output of efficient teamwork.

The campaign concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Manish Badoni.
