School of Liberal Arts conducts a Debate on the topic “Is Globalization a threat to Indian Culture?”

“For good ideas and new innovations, you need human interaction, conflict, argument and debate.” – Margaret Heffernan

With an aim to develop the talent of oratory in the students the ‘Literary Club’, under the aegis of School of Liberal Arts, organized a debate on the topic,” Is Globalization a threat to Indian culture?” on 19th September, 2019. Every orator has to be made to understand the importance of leadership and speaking skills over any topic. The organized program alleviated the minds of the students for participation in such extracurricular activities and inspired them to enhance their oratory skills.

The entire program was organized by Ms. Reeta Rautela under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Shriya Goyal (Dean– School of Liberal Arts). The jury for the debate included Ms. Bharti and Mr. Komil Kumar.

The program initiated with the recital of University Anthem which filled up the hearts of the students with pride and respect for their institution and gave the entire program a powerful and motivating start.

The participants for the notion included Surabhi, Mandeep and Shalini. The participants against the notion were Yamini, Pawan and Samriddhi. All the participants spoke very well and defended their motion with factual inputs & critical analysis. The points, facts and ideas presented by the participants kept the audience connected throughout the event. The jury analyzed every participant and graded them according to pre- decided parameters.

The Best Debater Award was accorded to Mr. Pawan [B.A., I Semester] and the Best Speaker was awarded to Ms. Mandeep Kaur [B.A (Hons.) Psychology].

The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Shriya Goyal who encouraged the students for more participation in the coming events of the University. She also enlightened the students by providing them with constructive and fruitful tips on effective speaking.

All the participants, jury, students and the organizing staff were praised for their presence, participation, support and discipline throughout the event. Overall, the program was highly edifying for the students. Such programs are always very propitious not only for the participants, but also for the audience.
