A lecture was organized by the School of Applied & Life Sciences on Sodium-Ion Batteries are the future of the transport sector under the International Lecture series. Prof Palani Balaya of the National University of Singapore (NUS) delivered the talk who is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the National University of Singapore (NUS) with 108 published research articles with more than 10100 citations. He was awarded many awards like the Global Star award (2015) by AcerS, Late Shri Har Mahandar Singh Chhatwal Memorial award by Indian Ceramic Society. He was elected as a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society in 2019. He has served in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change as Lead Auditor.
The session was graced by the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi and he shared the progress and status of Uttaranchal University. Uttaranchal University has published about 100 patents (IPR) in the last year. In this lecture more than 100 students of M Sc/B Sc (H) Physics/Chemistry, B Tech Mechanical Engineering participated.
Dr Palani discussed Sodium-ion batteries which are becoming a potential candidate for the replacement of batteries due to the large quantities of sodium reserves and the high cost of recycling lithium-based batteries. He also informed about the forthcoming status of batteries of micro-macro sizes and disposal of batteries.
The event was concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dean of Applied Science Prof (Dr)Ajay Singh, In this event Prof B S Rawat, Prof Poonam Negi, Prof Bharti Ramola, Prof V K Srivastava, Dr Nishesh Sharma, Dr Ajaib Singh, Dr Pankaj Tripathi, Dr Avdhesh Kumar, Dr Sukriti Singh, Mr S K Joshi, Ms Debanjali and many other faculty members were present.
