School of Agriculture organized a session on ‘Capacity Building’ for its Faculty Members on 17th January, 2020. Dr. C. Tiwari, Director – Extension, Uttarakhand University of Horticulture and Forestry, Bharsar, was the Expert Speaker. Prof. (Dr.) J. P. Mishra, Principal-SOA, introduced the Expert to the audience and requested him to guide the Faculty Members on Extension Programme scheduled to be launched by SOA in the villages of Dehradun District.
Dr. Tiwari extensively explored various aspects and issues being faced by the farmers of Uttarakhand. He suggested selecting few pilot villages and launching awareness programmes in the villages after conducting baseline survey and regular on the spot demonstrations and training to the farmers on issues related to their betterment. He further suggested a second round of survey after one or two years in the same village to assess the change in need and necessity of the farmers. Dr. Tiwari also discussed various types of farming systems being adopted by the farmers of hill districts of Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pauri Garhwal. He provided valuable suggestions on how to stop migration from the villages and issues related to wild animals with solutions.
The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Principal – SOA.
