School of Agriculture observes ‘World Environment Day’

School of Agriculture pre-scheduled a plantation activity wherein the students were asked to plant a sapling in their home place. The activity culminated on 5th June, 2020, on the occasion of ‘World Environment Day’, under the aegis of Cultural Club, SOA. The students shared their photographs with the grown-up plant on 5th June, 2020.

The food we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink and the climate that makes our planet habitable all come from nature. Despite all the benefits that our nature gives us we still mistreat it. It is high time to amend our ways. This year’s theme is ‘Biodiversity’ – a concern that is both urgent and existential. Recent events, from bushfires in Brazil, the United States and Australia to locust infestations across East Africa – and the global disease pandemic – demonstrate the interdependence of humans and the webs of life in which they exist.

Students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture registered their participation in the event by planting and nurturing a plant with enthusiasm. Prof. (Dr.) J.P. Mishra, Principal – SOA appreciated the efforts of the students and wished them the best of health and future in such a pandemic situation.
