One Day Workshop On 3D Printing & Additive Manufacturing Technologies

Department of Mechanical Engineering, UIT, Uttaranchal University organized a one Day Workshop on 3D Printing & Additive Manufacturing Technologies for students of B.Tech Mechanical Engineering on 11th October 2021.

The event was initiated with the inaugural address by Dean-UIT, Prof (Dr) S. D Pandey. In his address he shared his valuable thoughts on additive manufacturing and introduced the Guest Mr S. Sanjeev Kumar, expert from “LODESTAR 3D” from Bangalore.

The main aim of the workshop was to make the student’s aware about the career and research opportunities in 3D Printing & additive manufacturing Technologies. Mr S. Sanjeev Kumar told that 3D Printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is a method of creating a three dimensional object layer-by-layer using a computer created design. 3D printing is an additive process whereby layers of material are built up to create a 3D part. The students were also informed regarding the different types of techniques used in 3D Printing like Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM), Stereolithography (SLA), Digital Light Processing (DLP) etc. The speaker also emphasized on the suitable technique selection to print the 3D printer objects as it directly reflect on the costs of the product. The workshop imparted an insight to the students into 3D Printing technologies & pursues it as a career option of the future.

The event concluded with vote of thanks and was graced with the presence of Prof (Dr) S. D Pandey (Dean-UIT), Mr Sanjeev Kumar Joshi (HOD-ME), Dr Shushant Singh (Assistant Professor-ME), Mr. Saurabh Aggarwal (Assistant Professor-ME) and Mr. Vivek John (Assistant Professor-ME) and other faculty member of the department.

The event was organized by Mechanical Engineering Department under the guidance of Mr Sanjeev Kumar Joshi (HOD-ME), faculty coordinator Mr. Vivek John (Assistant Professor-ME).
